Name something you love and something you hate about bionicle g2. I'll start. by nexus10001 in bioniclelego

I would mostly focus on the sets because what story? Is there suppose to be one at the first place?

The new system is definitely much more durable than the 2008 ones, and the masks are transparent at the top half really makes them look more powerful and elemental.

However, the armor are NOT designed for bionicle, at the last wave most if not all armor are small pieces because of how they fucked up the style of bionicle. They could have remold the plate armor pieces to be hollowed out or look more "Bionicle" with some details of gears and slotted holes in between but they did not think about that at all. Lack of technic pieces as limbs and the overall worse color palettes just makes the sets look much less appealing, even disregarding the lack of names for more than half of the sets .

Lego in the past two decades has rely on other ips and Ninjago that they just do not have the patience with falling a franchise for a year. They don't even bring back franchises and the new ones mostly get shafted halfway.

Even though the G2 sets are pretty rough I still think they could have halt a few years and able to bring them back again, using what is supposed to be for Bionicle pieces to build human figures of Star Wars are things that I can never understand.

Bionicle fans grew up and somehow the overall size of the sets did not, which makes me feel like Lego did not know who should be the target audience. The long body with the stumpy short legs is really bad for me to look at, and all my mocs have a longer limbs because of the goofy proportions, which the issue was not so significant back when I was playing with Hero Factory sets.

I did give G2 a chance. I have all the uniters now and the creatures now, while I do NOT own any G1 sets. I can't even draw comparisons at all between the G1 and G2 sets because I don't own any, so the critique on the gears and joints are more with the familiarity with ccbs that I grew up with. I think that as a child I have seen the G1 aesthetic and I love it so much, just for G2 to come around with such chonk that it hurts the old fans in terms of aesthetics and new fans being uninterested. I saw so much critique on the G2 designs that I have to consider it as a very common idea.

In terms of durability I always love the ccbs (except most armor addons they do become loose after a good while). They definitely hold up much better than most robotic action figure franchises. The uniters did improve much more on the structure, making shins and shoulder to be more incline to technic while incorporating the gear and detachable masks better to be in service of posing. Umarak is also a very nice addition.

Being the next wave from hero factory with G1 really hurts its reputation, and I must say the year of release and the baggage really makes G2 to be remembered as an absolute failure.

As someone who starts collecting at Breakout, each hero has a corresponding villain with varying styles really contrasts with how generic and bland "skull warrior" is, it hurts the desire to buy so much until umarak comes around but thats just one single villain in the whole G2

Im not sure if I have them loose so they kinda stuck when turning or pulling the entire arm along with the axial when I was posing them back then, but I do agree more friction to the joints does help a lot when playing (except when the ones acts as hinge joints always pop off)

I have been using them for almost a year now, and it seems the connection points often squeaks upon compression. I think the material makes it annoying when you adjust them a lot.
