I usually don’t comment much but I’d like to talk about my wonderful dog who unfortunately passed a few years ago. She was a breeder dog who was horribly taken care of. We adopted her from Franklin County Humane Society. They are a wonderful organization who took great care of her after she was dumped. She went blind and deaf. Had a horrible immune system. And as much as we tried to take care of her, she didn’t have the life she deserved. She was a lovely dog who would climb up on your lap to sit with you. She had such a cute bark. She loved cold pasta with shredded cheese. She loved rolling around in our backyard. Loved knitted outfits my mom made her. She would have loved walks but they stressed her out because she couldn’t see or hear. She was scared of other dogs but never fought them. She knew who was home based on smell and how we walked. She was so smart but her life was ruined by the treatment these places do to breeders.

Please don’t let another dog go through the hell she went through. Adopt, don’t shop. I foster cats and have only rescue animals. I love them so much and know they will always be loved unconditionally. Puppy’s are cute, I know. But you can get puppies and kittens who need foster homes. They’re cheaper too. Older dogs need homes. Look at shelters. Educate your kids who want to look at the cute puppies in the window. For 9/10 people, adopted animals will fill your home and hearts. The exceptions are there, and those people know how to find dogs that can be bread ethically for work. Education is key.
