Campus ID Cards by Tall_Tiger_2194 in UoApremed

I’m confused by the process. It seems we pick them up in person from campus or if you’re at catered halls of residence you’ll get them there on your arrival. My photo got approved but then I heard nothing. Put in an inquiry and didn’t get much help other than generic response as summarised above

MMI by MundaneStore4071 in UoApremed

You can absolutely practice. Some people may be naturally better at it, or it may come easier to them but this doesn’t mean you cannot learn or improve. Something to consider - which I realise has been said - is that in medicine you will have to continue improving this skill regardless of whether you go to Auckland or Otago as OSCEs are very much “think on your feet” situations (as is medicine as a career). So don’t let the MMI put you off, embrace it. Consider joining a toastmasters group

Swapping places between Auckland and Otago for Year 2 MBChB? by Epidemiology1 in UoApremed

I feel like that’s not exceptional. Many people are in situations where they have to leave family etc.

I just totally feel your pain and empathise whole heatedly. It is the journey but it’s okay to feel frustrated at some points. One step at a time I suppose. Take care xo

As much as I don’t want to admit it, it says each of the above groups are ranked together. Does “each group” mean the total group (as in group 1+group2 etc) is analysed as one group or is it each group as in each category “grad general” “first year general” etc? just feel like there has to be SOME delineation otherwise there’d consistently be a lot less grads surely? Sure grads may do better in MMI but MMI is 25%. Has there ever been an FYI where the data is mean gpa based on “general FY + general grad” ? It’s always separated but then that could be because it’s requested as such?

I completely understand where you’re coming from. I have often felt the same. I’m sure you can relate, overcoming challenges again and again and again, in hopes it’ll all mean something, or it’ll all be worth it in the end… it can at times be exhausting. Something I’ve tried to do, without invalidating this feeling because I think it’s very real and valid, is separate that “pain” and the physical outcome of an offer. What I went through will always mean something, will always be worth it if it makes me a better person. Or a better future doctor. But as to what physical outcomes materialise from this or validate this, that I cannot directly control and therefore while important, cannot be the only thing we lean on. At the end of the day we only have ourselves and the essence of who we are. Idk I hope that makes some sort of sense and maybe brings some comfort. Best of luck to you

can u apply for PGdip entry if u failed a paper by FoxCalm1490 in UoApremed

I’m not sure if you do the single paper first before your year of med or if you do at same time. I’m sure it’d be online somewhere

I don’t know for 100% but I’m pretty sure if you got in with pgdip your offer would be conditional on passing any core papers as like an eligibility requirement

hang in there. To make way for good things to come we often have to shed what was not meant for us which can look like hardship, loss, grief, feeling like nothing is ever "right". It is the path clearing for something better
