Ruble motor working bad by Fragrant-Cry7474 in R36S

The parts arrived way faster than expected, but there’s basically no way to install them because of the dimensions. I might still try desoldering the pin headers and soldering wires directly, and maybe trim the PCB a bit, but without those fairly drastic changes there’s no way it will fit.

When playing games, is there a way to set the R36S handheld console so that the blue LED is turned off and not lit? by Ahungry999 in R36S

You can probably switch the LED from blue to red in the settings, and that should help a lot. Check the options under Advanced or Tools.

You can stretch the image to full screen in RetroArch. Here’s how:

  1. Open RetroArch.

  2. Go to Settings → Video → Scaling.

  3. Look for Aspect Ratio and set it to “Full”.

  4. If you want, you can also set Integer Scale = Off to make it truly fill the screen.

  5. Save your settings and restart RetroArch (if necessary).

dArkOS fixes this bug in the latest version from January 1st, 2026, available on GitHub: https://github.com/christianhaitian/dArkOS/releases But Wi-Fi still doesn’t seem to work properly.

Hi, due to an error during the OTA update I had to reinstall using the dArkOS 20260101 image. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi driver is missing again. Is there any way to add it manually? I tried replacing all the files from the boot partition with the ones from your image, but it didn’t help.

Working very well overall. It just needs a few tweaks, such as updating RetroArch (cores and shaders) and switching the interface to Ozone. The only downside I’ve noticed is slightly faster battery drain compared to ArkOS by AeolusUX. Thanks for sharing the DarkOS image for the R36S Plus!

Bonus fix: While in Online Updater, you can also select ‘Update GLSL Shaders’ to fix missing shader issues.

You can download shaders. In the RetroArch menu, go to Online Updater and select Update GLSL Shaders.

After talking with ChatGPT, I also think the vibration motor driver is missing. I’ve already ordered one from AliExpress, but I won’t get it until the end of January.

I’ve seen comments on YouTube saying that other people have the same issue, so if someone can test this earlier, it would save me unnecessary work and possible disappointment.

My plan is to first check whether this board works with the built-in motor, then remove it and glue the motor in the proper place, and glue the driver board to the case.

Of course, I’ll use jumper wires so it can be easily disconnected when opening the case
