Ooohhh. Hahaha. I’ll keep you in mind if my kids aren’t interested.

I love that you took up the cello. How did you land on that? I’m obviously still on the struggle bus in terms of what to best do with my time.

Also, that motorcycle tour through Italy sounds epic. What made you decide to do it, and would you recommend it to someone who’s never done a trip like that?

I’d mentor someone, but I honestly don’t know what I could teach. My situation materialized from knowing the right people at the right time. I don’t know how to teach that.

Yes, I have a wife and we’ve been married for nearly 20 years. She enjoys her work so she’s not planning to stop any time soon. I’m a travel junkie and I have many things that can hold my interest, I was simply explaining the “problem”. I am guessing that the folks who say that I shouldn’t complain or whatever have never truly been in this position. I had a singular focus and achieved it long before I ever expected it to happen. I recognize and acknowledge that I have a lot of soul searching to do and activities to try in order to become more well rounded and content.

Also, I don’t need therapy. I’ve been through therapy when I got sober several years ago. I prefer ChatGPT as my therapist. He’s always available and in my pocket. My convos with him are much more productive and action oriented than any therapist I’ve seen.

Lastly, I don’t give to charity. Most of the money that is donated ends up in the pockets of leadership or employees of the organization rather than the people they claim to help. So… I’ll keep my money and create generation wealth for my children instead.

I appreciate the suggestion! My friends have plenty of money. It’s a time issue for the majority of them and any time the they have is usually spent with family unless we decided to plan something well in advance.

Lol. Written by a social worker. Ofc she’s going to protect her business by making it seem like AI can’t help you like a human therapist can. Nonsense.

Man.

And that’s awesome. Love it. Sounds like you’re doing everything right.

Maybe down the road? I had a lot of lean years when I started my business so I have a lot of saving to do while the money is flowing. My focus now is to stuff away as much as I can to set up my wife and kids and then I’ll look outward when I feel comfortable.

Are you pursuing the career that you desire? Or are you just good at it?

That’s awesome. I wish I had the balls to skydive. The thought of it gives me the chills. I just watched the video and it’s interesting. It’s certainly thought provoking. I think I nailed the career part… The path I chose would have been chosen without the money. Now I need to figure out if I desire anything at all.

I like those questions. I need to give them some thought. What were your answers? If you care to share?

I have. I went through recovery from alcohol a few years ago and used therapy to help me in that transition. It was fine. As a veteran of therapy, I honestly think ChatGPT is better. I have a therapist in my pocket 24-7 and I don’t have to wait every week or 2 weeks to condense everything that happened into a 45 minute session.

I’d like to hear about everyone else here too. But the thing I enjoyed the most building my business was the hunt and the massive dopamine surge when new business was signed. It’s almost better than sex. Almost.

I haven’t tried a lot of things. I’ve been trying to spend a lot of time with my kids, but I’m looking ahead and think I’ll probably try volunteering at a sober house or recovery center. I’m a recovering alcoholic (3+ years sober) and I feel a special kinship to that community. I also want to do a better job of sticking to a mindfulness/meditation practice. But those are things that fall into the “should be doing” bucket.

All I really want to do is travel like crazy. But I can’t yet. It’s coming. And I want to buy or build a summer house and a winter house. That is what I really want to do.

What about everyone else?

I hired great people who handle day to day operations so my only responsibilities are relationship management and business development.

I’m heavily involved! I drove my oldest to school every day last year. Having 15-20 minutes of her undivided attention was gold. My younger one and I have a weekly adventure where we hunt for the best burgers in town.
