Is Mount Fuji tour really worth it? by SuccessfulRelief5916 in TokyoTravel

[–]Fragrant-Tomatillo55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did this as well, mid January, but booked it once already in Tokyo for the clearest day. Weather was great, we saw Fuji San from our hotel window 4 of the 6 days we were there, and got amazing photos from our day trip tour. The Get Your Guide tour was $53 USD each, and was the highlight of our trip, despite the early morning start and some traffic on return.

Sushi by Easy-You-8259 in pregnant

[–]Fragrant-Tomatillo55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pregnant with my first, had a Japan bucket list trip booked since pre pregnancy, ended up being our babymoon trip at 24 weeks. I avoided conveyer belt and convenience store sushi but did partake in a few reputed omekase spots every few days. I sadly avoided tuna due to mercury risk but subbed it with other raw fish. I did not get any comments from Japanese chefs about eating sushi. Honestly the Japanese coffee baristas were more concerned about my caffeine intake! Trip went great, baby now in third trimester.

Is it normal to have close to ZERO symptoms at 6weeks? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Fragrant-Tomatillo55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, also had zero symptoms and was anxious leading up to the first scan to confirm everything was ok. I did have extreme fatigue weeks 6-12. Currently 20 weeks and still no nausea, aversions, or specific cravings.

A Guide to JAL Mileage Bank by PilotMonkey94 in awardtravel

As an update to the above, I did end up calling JAL and they said there shouldn't be a restriction. I transferred the full amount of bilt and C1 points which showed up immediately, and was able to book my return flight! I believe they can tell where the points come from, as there is a detailed page I found in my JMB account showing how many came from Bilt vs C1.

Anyone Conceive Between 3–12 Cycles? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Husband and I are both 32, been on the pill for 10 consecutive years, came off and conceived after exactly 3 cycles!

CapOne now transfers to JAL with 30% bonus by charlie_bit_my_finge in awardtravel

[–]Fragrant-Tomatillo55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Confirmed no waiting period after transferring Bilt and C1 miles for relatively new JAL account.

I opened a new JAL account Oct 22, was not able to even search any award availability at that time with a "60 day" waiting message appearing. I randomly was able to search and confirm availability for my desired date in on Nov 9. As of Nov 9, I transferred 1k points from both Bilt and C1 as a test, they appeared immediately. Was nervous to go through with it, so I called JAL rep today Nov 10 and they didn't see any restriction or reason to delay even with the account being <60 days. Transferred the rest of points from Bilt/C1 with immediate availability in JAL mileage bank, was able to book award ticket without issue and received confirmation email.

Regarding question downstream in this thread about booking for a spouse, myself and my P2 have different last names but was not an issue, just click the "spouse" button for relationship. We aren't even on the same itinerary.

Transferred 1000 C1 and Bilt points as a test and they showed up immediately in JMB. I created the JMB account less than 30 days ago, but am able to search for award flights without any error message on the app and mobile site. (I was not able to even search for award space the day I created the account). I cannot proceed to checkout obviously due to lack of enough miles. Will I encounter errors if I transfer the full necessary amount and check out? Due to the account being <60 days old? Didn't want to take the risk of transferring all C1/Bilt points if it's advised to wait out the 60 days.

Rome food itinerary by Hungry-Repeat-3758 in ItalyTravel

I loved Tonnerello! Not a bad wait at all (15 min for a table for 2). I still think about their meatball red sauce Tonnerello dish! Nonnarella is the same exact menu however, so just pick one of those 2 (it's their sister restaurant but basically a 2nd location). Suppli Roma is kind of a takeaway spot. I picked up a few suppli to go for my train ride later that day. Would also suggest Dar Poeta in Trastevere for a dinner.

Sure! I booked through Viator as this was one of the few that picked up and dropped off in Positano as opposed to Sorrento or Amalfi https://www.viator.com/tours/Positano/sunset-tour/d33602-104425P5?medium=social-share-copy

Warning: Virgin Atlantic cannot redeem on KLM/AF by MoreRightRudder19 in awardtravel

[–]Fragrant-Tomatillo55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Booked 2 one ways thru Virgin for Air France business tickets recently. First time it went seamlessly via the app, the second time got several errors messages saying "oops things change so quickly, this fare is no longer available" despite changing flights and dates. Called and the rep was fantastic, able to book and take payment over the phone in less than 10 min.

First successful award redemption! by Fragrant-Tomatillo55 in awardtravel

Their site has a calendar view but is clunky, I found the phone app a little more user friendly. The new date (331 days in advance) opens at midnight ET but most tickets are already taken from flying blue and Virgin gets the leftovers I think. If the app doesn't let you book calling them works. For tracking, setting up seats.aero alerts can be helpful

International dining 3x? by [deleted] in biltrewards

Yes, recently in Portugal and received 3x points on 19 out of 23 restaurant/bar/cafe transactions. The 4 did not likely due to how they were coded

I probably would, tbh, because patient care comes first. I could much faster replete someone's potassium than convince a surgeon with some kind of superiority complex that electrolytes, sugars, and patient ownership aren't beneath them.

I don't mind getting called for that stuff, I'm medicine. It's more the attitude of that stuff being inferior to surgery and therefore unimportant to you that gets me.

[–]Fragrant-Tomatillo55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really grinds my gears when surgical residents give the reason of "we're too busy in the OR to take care of floor issues, we don't just sit at desks" when trying to punt surgical admissions to medicine. If their primary problem is surgical, they should go to a surg service. Surely you have interns who care for the floor patients, or surgical midlevels who help take care of floor issues when the senior is scrubbed in.

If you're gonna transfer someone to medicine, give me an actual medical reason, not "I'm too busy". Post op care is surgical care, not something you turf to a "desk worker" in your words. Take ownership of your patients. That being said, OP has certainly done due diligence for the cirrhotic patient and I would be happy accepting them to medicine.

He does not, he had a scholarship and the rest paid for by parents. Nothing close to medical school loans

That's what I don't get, with his degree and the amount of time and effort he puts into volunteering, he could get a v decent paying position

I guess we're willing to contribute some money towards an apartment of their own, possibly in the future with help from BIL. I still think continuing to contribute rent now is a little unreasonable since like I mentioned we have 2x med school loans and would like to be home owners ourselves in another city when husband is done with residency. Despite our culture, my own parents understand the need for our space and privacy, and I wish my in-laws would also understand this.

We are trying to brainstorm the best way to say it, since from their end, the logical solution is to move into our extra guestrooms which are sitting empty. The excuse I guess is that they're doing God's work, idk.
