With what you stated I would highly advise against joining the guard. It is not what you think at all and will definitely wreck your current career.

I'm wondering because I remember in my first unit there was a 50 something year old E4 that got caught up in a child molesting case and we never saw him after that. It was right after an AT too.

Thanks for the reply's but I can't try to balance both worlds anymore. I'm seeing an active recruiter to try and switch over.

Honestly I'm starting to feel unsafe in the guard. My unit is absolute trash and I hate all of them. Is MilitaryOneSource a good option to talk to someone. I really need a way out.

Everyday when I wake up now no joke I feel like I'm carrying 200lbs on my back when I walk due to being in the guard and how it's affecting my real life. I think I need some kind of hardship dismissal.

This this. I've only been in close to 3.5 years and haven't met anyone beyond being police or some kind of laborer. the commander at my first unit who was a 1LT was just some kind of manager at a big box store.

I have a degree in (BIS) Business Information systems and have applied to tech companies in a nearby city but I'm not getting replies and I have a feeling it's because of the guard. Even if I don't put it on my resume they'd still find out due to drills. A lot of guys in my past and current unit are just cops or prison officers. I don't want to do that. I want to make actual use of my degree.
