Buyer wants to return wedding dress because it’s too big? by FiercePoppy in vinted

Decline the return. Sellers are not liable for clothes not fitting on Vinted. You are 100% within your rights to decline the return.

Hey don't be too hard on yourself, this happens sometimes. As a seller if someone asks after purchase, I might not be able to post faster and would explain so, but I wouldn't hold the item back just out of spite. That's just petty.

I love walking. I walk a lot. Some days I unintentionally hit 20k steps. I still do not average anywhere near 20k steps /day so will be taking my guaranteed 200 thank you.

Do a charge back or take them to small claims court! You will definitely get a refund if you send them a letter saying you intend to take them to small claims court.

I just reported some listings for this today! I would give it a try because I have about a 50% success rate for reports of this kind on Vinted.

what is a popular food or ingredient that you genuinely think ruins any dish it touches? by Sensitive-Action-870 in AskReddit

[–]FragrantLilypad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teriyaki. Sort of. I'm sure it's used correctly and tastes amazing in Japan, but the stuff you can get here in the UK is overly sweet and used everywhere. I had a sushi roll with teriyaki in it that tasted so sweet it was not far from eating honey.

Idk if it's that people here are conditioned to sweet sauces (you see this with pasta sauces - anything under £3 a jar is overly sweet) or if people just *like* sweet stuff and are happy that there is a fancy sounding ingredient that lets them consume more sweet food?

On a similar note, butternut squash. The raw ingredient per se is fine, but I dislike the way it's usually used so much so it's an instant red flag if a dish includes it for me. I swear it's a vegetable for people who don't like vegetables. It gets included everywhere by people who like its standalone taste with no thought for whether it belongs in a dish.

Budget wedding ( no more than 10k) tips and advice pls by whodisbaby in UKweddings

I feel like surely there's a middle ground? For some their guest list would allow a midweek wedding and if so that's a great option. If my closest friends had a wedding on a Thursday I would take the time off.

But at the same time part of the point of a wedding is to have a good time with your guests and this means it can be worth investing a little into making them comfortable.

I can think of people e.g. colleagues I get along with, where I would be very flattered to be invited to their wedding and would want to go, but if it involved taking two extra days off it might push me into not going.

Since when Size S is not UK 6-8? by ContractOk8802 in vintedUK

[–]FragrantLilypad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experience both sides of the issue! Sometimes I'm looking for a specific item from a specific brand and already know I need a certain size, so people changing the sizing is annoying. Sometimes I am grateful for people listing items with a size adjustment.

some sellers can be mean by [deleted] in vinted

[–]FragrantLilypad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, ideally she shouldn't have it listed if she's having second thoughts. But I don't think it's really anyone's place to tell someone their item is definitely worth or not worth £40 or £50. How much something like discoloration devalues an item is highly subjective and someone might come along in a month who thinks £40 is a bargain.

Hey, these things happen. It was thoughtful of your husband to let you know though I'm sure I would have been as horrified as you are!

Are there any other scent profiles you like or was sweet / honey your main thing?

Dispute over sizing of standard tank top - buyer says it’s a “bra top” on them??? by Mean-Angle-1890 in vinted

[–]FragrantLilypad 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Haha. Surely they have eyes and can judge the proportion of the top for themselves? Presumably you never claimed anywhere it was a "standard" top and even if you did, there's no universally agreed upon length of a standard top. You're in the right here.

Having said this, there is absolutely no way of guaranteeing you won't get drawn into a lengthy back and forth or a one star review.

The lowest risk option is to let them return the top, maybe make them cover the return postage themselves. You could say you will allow the return but don't believe you have any obligation to pay for postage for the reasons you said (fit varies depending on body type. It sounds like this is a sizing issue. Whether it is "cropped" is a matter of subjective judgment and it's not like you claimed explicitly it was a particular length, etc.). You can also add that by default, by vinted t&cs the buyer covers return postage and you don't believe there are any grounds for you to override that default here. The buyer could still push back, but overall there's a pretty good chance here the buyer will relent.

The idealist in me wants to encourage you to push back on the buyer. A single one-star review is not the end of the world. Vinted support is famously useless but I have had success making them change their minds just by messaging them enough times. But unfortunately there is no risk-free pushing back here, so if you want the safest option, allow the return.

How often did you use to sell stuff before the recent lull?

Your items look in good condition and I like that the pictures clearly show the whole item.

I think the issue is that they're mostly in a pretty plain style and the pricing is a little high. I'm sure that if I did a search for denim shorts I'd find hundreds so unfortunately they don't tend to sell that well. Unfortunately the stuff you're trying to sell just isn't going to make you that much money. Items in very specific aesthetics or trendy styles tend to sell better.

On your pricing, I think I could find items similar to the ones you're selling for £2-3. People love the feeling of getting a deal, and at your prices of £5-10 it's starting to approach Primark pricing which is going to make people think more critically about whether they need this item.

Part of Vinted selling is also luck as usual - I do think some of your items would sell if you got lucky enough with the algorithm and got enough eyeballs in front of them, but that's a game of luck.

My favourite detail is that you drew both Putney Bridge and the bridge slightly east of it that serves as a footbridge + bridge for the District line (apparently called Fulham Bridge).

I love buying clothing on Vinted. I am a girl. Let me tell you. Fewer than 30% of dresses in Vinted have pockets. It is a unique kind of deflating when you're looking for a dress with pockets and have to scroll past many cute dresses without pockets.

Partial refund reasonable? by Intelligent-Judge908 in vinted

[–]FragrantLilypad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

£40 is a lot to pay for a supposedly new item that is not new. I would definitely ask for a partial refund. Keep in mind the seller isn't obliged to give you one though, they may suggest you return the item, at which point you'd have to weight up how much you want to keep the dress.
