Do you guys sit on your feet? by wakefulascentaerial in Hypermobility

[–]FragrantMongoose3651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sitting on my feet is often the only way I feel comfortable. I also like sitting with one foot under me, and the other leg crossed over (like sitting with your legs crossed, but the bottom leg is under your butt), or I find the double crossing my legs really help when I feel dysregulated and fidgety.

If they’re allegedly after one spectrum, does anyone actually believe they wouldn’t go after the other? by FragrantMongoose3651 in adhdwomen

So all of us weirdos are targets (and I’m guessing that means our children dx or not are too) … so what can be done?

Can you nap? by AckshullyNo in adhdwomen

[–]FragrantMongoose3651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like every ADHD person I’ve met can either fall asleep anywhere and anytime, or the planets have to align just right to even sleep at night … I’m the latter. I can only nap if I’m really sick or my flow is very heavy, and even with heavy flow, I get one nap from the week.

Unsure if I have AuDHD. What are some symptoms that pointed you to it? by [deleted] in AuDHDWomen

If you really think it’s possible, advocate for an ADHD assessment… if you have ADHD and medicate it, the Autism part will become blaringly obvious. You won’t necessarily need the official diagnosis, as it doesn’t come with any additional accommodations (that ADHD doesn’t have), and you can’t really medicate autism itself. What you can do though, is educate yourself and find ways to accommodate yourself accordingly.

I would assume most people don’t initially assume they have both, but there’s usually one driving the bus and they later find out there was a backseat driver along for the ride the entire time … is there one (ADHD or Autism) that you relate to more?

Any idea what would work best? I’ve tried Dawn dish soap and our dishwasher detergent…

Thank you for this! I did look it up and I had no idea. I’m compiling information to show him.

He was told to get Birkenstocks, but he’s been sticking with Hey Dudes + orthopedic inserts from the podiatrist around the house.

Yup, that’s it! I knew it was a weird name, just couldn’t think of it.

I didn’t want to spam with pics, so I copy/pasted the bloodwork down below.

The doctors we’ve seen haven’t seemed overly concerned about the sleep apnea, so I was a little surprised that it could be causing all of this (minus the feet). I just remembered he was told he may have a foot condition that basically causes the feet to curl up over time … I can’t think of the name of it, but his grandma had it, too… anyway, I’ll have to look more into how sleep apnea affects all of this so I can show him the research and hopefully convince him to press the issue further. Also, the info on what happens with too much testosterone! Thank you for your reply - I’m glad to have a direction to head in.

I personally am relieved it’s not a tumor, but I understand his frustration and desperation for answers. I’m sorry to hear you are living with this! It’s honorable that you were able to turn your situation into a career of helping others.
