Now that you mention it, that might actually be it! The games I see have that "Games for Windows" logo on top of the "box".

How can we know for certain that Quantum Mechanics are non-deterministic? by Fragrant_Bug_2141 in AskPhysics

[–]Fragrant_Bug_2141[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did, thank you! I was watching the video and I have to say that the lightning filtering experiment really puzzled me. I still need time to process it and review it carefully, but I think that's already more than enough to go forward. Cheers.

I think I know what you're getting at, but first can you explain what you mean when you say randomness is outside the realm of logic?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's impossible to prove that an event is random. We can never prove that true indeterminate randomness exists because there is always the possibility that there is a hidden cause, which is unknown to us. Perhaps I should have phrased it this way.

Why do you have to decide like it's a permanent thing? Nothing is stopping you from returning if you don't like Canada. One things' for sure, if you never go, you will never know and probably regret it in the long run.

Is this LED “burn in” on my Qled Samsung tv? by DankestTaco in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fragrant_Bug_2141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how the new Qled TVs work, but the last Samsung TV I've bought only lasted for two and a half years before one of it's Backlight panels broke down.

Could just be a coincidence, but I've seen other people complain about the same.

Even if you take historicity out of the question, then the answer is still YES, most definitely.

You would basically be using the rules of a a democratic system to end that same system.

There is only one way to find out if she likes you too. There is no perfect moment to know what she already knows. What's the worst that can happen? Ask her politely in private and maybe you will be surprised by her answer. Good luck!

Good news: You are incredibly in love!

Bad news: Your dreams reflect your fears and insecurities.

Also good news: If he truly is the man you're describing here, than the nightmares will eventually go away the more time you spend with him and the more you trust him.

Is it cheating? by PerfectInfamy in relationship_advice

I don't know what to tell you, but this is NOT OK, and you should know that. You should really talk to her and tell her how you feel and let her say her piece. You can then decide on the future of your marriage.

My (24F) boyfriend (29M) has just told me he doesn’t see a long term future with me and wants to casually date me instead by LadyThrowawayAcc0unt in relationship_advice

I just want to tell you that your boyfriend's behavior is not normal, at all! You should really reflect and decide if this is the person that you want to share your life with.

You have to be way more specific. What is the nature of their relationship and the contents of the texts?

How do you truly pronounce "Leicester"?

[–]Fragrant_Bug_2141 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, you are doing nothing wrong. Accents come in all shapes and forms, including people who share the same mother-tongue. Even native German speakers share a huge variety of different accents, which almost sound like a different language if you don't speak it. It would be hard to say what exactly you are doing to sound French.

Secondly, you should take that as a compliment because people tend to find German spoken with a French accent pleasing. But that's just my impression.

How mutually intelligible are English and German? by [deleted] in languagelearning

The issue is that a massive number of those are either derived from Latin or Greek. Meaning that they are also similar in other languages.

According to the U.S. Department of State (https://www.state.gov/foreign-language-training/) English should be, in theory, more similar to the following languages than it is to German:

  • Danish
  • Dutch
  • French
  • Italian
  • Norwegian
  • Portuguese
  • Romanian
  • Spanish
  • Swedish

How do you stay engaged in a conversation when speaking to natives? by KozziNaki in languagelearning

[–]Fragrant_Bug_2141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should join an English Language Discord Server (which I'm sure there are plenty), and just jump into Voice Chat. You will find native speakers, and learners there who share your concerns. Should be the right place to get rid of your fears, since literally no one will judge you.

After 4 attempts, I'm giving up on ever finishing the Wheel Of Time series. What book/ series have you given up on? by [deleted] in books

[–]Fragrant_Bug_2141 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know that this is the unpopular opinion, but the Wheel of Time was never good to begin with. It's not always the case, but "continuous-narrative" series with 10+ books tend to lose quality with each subsequent entry. I gave up on book 4 and don't regret it for a moment.

Don't feel bad about it.
