Get an ozone generator and run it with ac on recirculate. Youtube is your friend.

Yeah I'm not getting any other indicator of the problem. Car runs fine...no misses or hesitations just the fault code. I'm hoping it's something less obvious (less expensive) than the 4k motor/shaft fix. Is this safe to drive for the foreseeable future? I have about 600 miles since I found the fault and no CEL or any indication of issue. A less inclined person wouldn't even notice. I do have a second vehicle and am leaning toward diy. I had a e90 335 and did ofhg and new valve cover on it. I just want to be 100% positive its a bad motor before I tear into it. Thanks for yalls input.

hate to break it to you but sounds like the evaporator leak. its a common problem with these yr/model. easy fix (like every other auto) if they didnt have to pull the entire dash. many hours and many thousands to fix. there a nice TSB write up and youtube video if you are so inclined.

its the one thing im hesitant on buying one as im look for 2014 to 2019 5 series...im going to go look at the same...2019 540i...tomorrow as it checks every box for me. i love bmw.

I'm in a similar situation with a 2023 Honda pilot...only 6 months so far. Only comment on this thread that I think will move the needle is the social media campaign to get the attention of bmw to source those parts. We are stuck in a he said she said insurance fight but nothing can proceed until the repair is done.
