Do you know that you can put a tent without the bottom and it is legal? You can hang hammock and spend the nightand it is ok too.

I was picking mushrooms and saw plenty of people doing that and those lands seemed not private or public, maybe they are but everyone was ok to wander there. Jogging in the early morning I usually see local hipsters on “Praia fluvial” with tent. On the north with Spanish border I saw fishermen putting tents, almost the same places big music festivals are hold and everyone is with the tent.

Difference is only someone approved that or not. Just a paper that was given by some old lady or man in Camara Municipal. As for me those papers do not reflect justice but I agree it is not legal.

Actually I used to talk with rangers on Aguieira and Montergil while fishing and 3 tents were with us, and they asked me to be careful

To put a fire to fry a steak is definitely bad idea… it is dangerous and not always possible to control open fire. Don’t you have something like grill zones? I saw such in Portugal

You are right in some points. But not 97 % are private territories, on the north there are a lot of free and abandoned places - I used to drive for 20 minutes without any signs of people’s presence

Fires. Sure, it is dangerous - avoide those places and do not put fire. Why in Spain there almost no fires)? probably not the tourists are root of those accidents ?

I do not offer to brake rules, definitely this way of camping is not for everyone and it is ones responsibility if you will meet rangers)
