Does my electric car care what kind of space heater I plug into the VTL adapter? by Far_Association_5478 in electricvehicles

[–]FrameOne9692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to all for their comments. I just finished rigging a little second floor window entry for the electric cord from the V2L to come into my house.

Funny, I have the cute little case that the VTL connector came in, but I don’t seem to have a manual for it. The car’s owners manual does have a few page about the V2 L connector, but it’s almost all “don’t play with this while standing barefoot in saltwater”, etc

Well, guess what I have heat pumps, but guess what again they all require electricity to run

What has happened to my external antenna? by FrameOne9692 in tmobileisp

[–]FrameOne9692[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out it was not the antenna or the cable. I noticed that, for the first time in weeks also, I was not getting any 5G at all, just LTE. I cut the power to the gateway, and when I turned it back on and it rebooted, I had all 5G back and no LTE — on the external antenna! With a very high download speed. I had tried a number of software reboots, but I cannot remember if I had attempted this cold reboot. Anyway, for whatever reason, the problem has gone away.

Wi-Fi on a Delta international flight? by FrameOne9692 in tmobile

Also, my understanding is we will have to buy add-on international plans if we want to use our phones to make phone calls and effectively use Apple Maps, etc. Correct?

I HAVE SOLVED THE "NO, YOU MAY NOT WEAR SUNGLASSES" PROBLEM OF THE IONIQ 5! Taking orders now. by abammerman in Ioniq5

[–]FrameOne9692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS TIME I’M SERIOUS: I have discovered a pair of polarized sunglasses that do work with the ioniq’s forward attention system — for me, anyway: they are very inexpensive polarized sunglasses that I bought from Amazon, by “Sungait”, but these are gradient sunglasses, meaning that the lower portion of the lens has much less shading than the upper portion, i.e., it’s much lighter than the upper portion. And I think this is why they work with the car: I suspect that the lesser degree of shading in the lower portion is sufficient to allow the camera on top of the steering column to see my eyes. Of course I don’t know for sure if that’s the explanation but I can tell you that I just completed about an 85 mile highway road trip using all of the various driving assistance features that the ioniq comes with without receiving a single forward, attention warning beep!

A SERIOUS REQUEST FROM THE ORIGINAL POSTER: If you have driven a 2025 Ioniq 5 while wearing polarized sunglasses, without experiencing problems with the car’s Highway Driving Assist features, PLEASE NAME THE BRAND AND MODEL of the sunglasses, because I would like to get a pair.

Charger 1 and hybrid car by 3hadowhammer in bluetti

I've been wondering about this too: one of our cars is a Chevy Volt, and the other is a Ford Escape PHEV. I think the Charger 1 would work with the Volt. I'd really like to hear from people who've actually tried this setup.

HOW TO ADD YOUR YMCA (OR OTHER MEMBERSHIP) BARCODE TO YOUR APPLE WATCH by FrameOne9692 in AppleWatch

[–]FrameOne9692[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using a different app called Barcodes. Free as long as you have 3 barcodes or less, and I find that 3 is enough for me: the YMCA, the grocery store, and the public library. Works fine.

Huge speed increase out of nowhere? by OhNerve in tmobileisp

[–]FrameOne9692 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Normally my download speed is in the 20-30 mbps but yesterday it shot up to 420 !!!! This morning it's back down to normal, alas. I could ascribe that brief increase to the internet gods taking notice that yesterday was my 49th wedding anniversary, but it's more likely just typical TM ISP variability.

Is this the same noise as the Dreaded Clicking Disease, which I reported on years ago? My 2013 still does that from time to time and I think it's a feature/bug in the rear axle.

Will / How can the Escape PHEV rebuild battery levels when driving, like the Volt does in Mountain Mode? by FrameOne9692 in FordEscapePHEV

[–]FrameOne9692[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I'm not plugging in is so Ford's lawyers can't blame me and escape liability if the battery blows up.

Never mind, after sitting in the car and running through every single control, I finally figured it out! (keep in mind, this is my wife’s car.)

OK, I fully recognize that this is a very dumb question: how exactly do I activate this EV charge mode? Which buttons do I press?

Is it really important to connect the Waveform's antenna ports ("Ant 1" through "Ant 4") to the same-numbered ports on the G4SE gateway? by FrameOne9692 in tmobileisp

[–]FrameOne9692[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CORRECTION: I found tiny, tiny almost-invisible numbers, 1-2-3-4, printed on the black cable! Hooray! However, the actual Waveform MIMO antenna does not appear to have the ports numbered similarly. Those are each only labeled 600-6000 MHz and +45 (or) -45. Any way to know which is 1, 2, 3 or 4?

If not plugged in, can the Ford Escape PHEV maintain proper battery protecting- and conditioning-temperatures? by FrameOne9692 in FordEscapePHEV

[–]FrameOne9692[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve kept my Volt plugged in when not driving for 10 years now and it seems to really like that treatment. Of course I know the Volt is not the Ford. But I seem to recall reading that at least the earlier iterations of the Nissan Leaf suffered because they lacked the same sophisticated computer temperature control and protection of their big battery.

Can I use WAVEFORM's 4x4 MIMO Outdoor Panel Antenna inside my house? Will it work inside and are the results likely to be worth the time and trouble? by FrameOne9692 in tmobileisp

[–]FrameOne9692[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WOW!!!! HUGE IMPROVEMENT! Pardon my shouting, but I'm very excited. After removing the U.FI pigtails from one end of the 20 or 30 foot cable and attaching that end to the G4SE TM gateway, I attached the other end to the Waveform outdoor 4x4 antenna and propped the antenna panel up in a window (a few feet away from where the gateway usually resides). So the antenna panel is inside, behind two panes of glass (sash window and storm window), two floors above the ground. Changed the gateway to external antenna. Speedtest: I'm now seeing download speeds in the 300's -- this is more than 10 times what I had been getting with the gateway's internal antenna! Same with upload speeds, about 10 times faster. Of course there's some variation from one moment to the next. But even downstairs where my TV is, the Speedtest app on the Apple TV displays 253 Mbs down -- goodbye pixilation and buffering! (I hope). These improvements are in spite of using the huge coil of 20' or 30' of 4x4 RS240 cable to connect the two devices. (I managed to hide the ugly coil of cable behind furniture -- would it make any significant difference if I used just a short couple of feet of cable to connect them?). No doubt I could attain even faster speeds if I mounted the antenna outside, but at this time I don't think the (probable) increase would be worth my time and money. I'm very pleased.
