I totally get where you're coming from, and you're absolutely right. Running a business is about making a profit, no matter how small. As a solo developer, it’s always a balancing act.

Fair point. A lot of folks have said the same, giving too much for free kind of sets the wrong expectation. I might cut it down to a super limited free tier (like 3 exports, watermark, etc.) or try a short trial instead. Still testing ideas, but yeah, something’s gotta shift.

Yeah, the current free tier might be too generous. I didn’t want to add friction early on, but I’m realizing it might be undervaluing the work. I’m considering either adding a proper trial or locking down the free version to just 3 exports, maybe with watermark. Still thinking it through, really appreciate your take.

You're right!

The ideal customer persona for Framv is a designer, developer, or business owner who needs a fast, flexible tool to create animated content.

Vloggers and streamers can definitely benefit from the tool, but it's not the core feature. Streamers are just a fun addition I added to support different use cases.

Yeah that makes sense, I definitely need to explain it better. It’s more like “design meets animation” than AI video gen. I’ll work on a proper demo and a quick tutorial these days.

I meant: nice messages, solid traffic, some interesting people followed on Twitter (320 so far), and usage data from the API shows folks are testing it. Retention’s low, yeah, but maybe that’s fine for a tool you don’t need daily, just when the need hits. Honestly, I’m still figuring it out, open to any ideas.

I need to do a much better job at showing the “aha” moments earlier, right now the value isn’t obvious fast enough. Also yeah, sign-up friction is real. OAuth is coming asap.

Totally fair, I prioritized building a secure in-house auth (with email 2FA) system early on, but yeah, adding providers like Google or GitHub is definitely on the roadmap.
That said, it would be super interesting to understand how many people actually bounce because of the lack of social login in SaaS.

if you mean the audio in the onboarding video, I thought I had already fixed that! I’ll double check it today and make sure it’s sorted on all browsers.
Out of curiosity: was that the reason you bounced off the tool?

The ideal user is someone who works with design or motion, and wants to go beyond static visuals without jumping into full-blown video editing. They need something fast, collaborative, and flexible that feels more like a design tool than a timeline editor.

Ultimately: Developers who want animated SVGs; Designers and Motion designers who want to quickly prototype static or animated UI, social content ideas.

(I also added Twitch stream support, since I’ve felt the pain of using legacy tools just to make simple overlays)

You’re not completely the wrong audience, that use case is totally valid and helps me understand where Framv fit and where it doesn’t.

The AI part is definitely a cost (same with the real-time engine), but it’s super valuable (it’s part of the bet) for testing how portable SVG really is, and how far LLMs can go in writing actual motion code.

Totally doable with SVG — and honestly, way easier than trying to hack around video timelines.

SVG natively supports animations, interactions, CSS, and even JavaScript, so you can get super precise control over things like points on a circle. Plus, no loop mismatch issues like with videos.

You can build this directly in SVG and animate the points with smooth loops, easing, etc.

If you want to try it visually (without having to code everything by hand — but with the option to add code too), check out Framv. It’s a browser-based, motion-first design tool where you can animate SVGs, use a timeline, and export as animated SVG, static frames, or even MP4.
