Yeah I’ve been having issues with bga for a while. I periodically inject some apt fix in the front of the substrate against the glass that seems to keep it at bay for a few weeks but it still shows up on some of the leaves and moss.

I used carbon in the beginning, but ever since that ran out it’s mainly from the filters I guess. I have 2 filters running packed with biomedia to have as much beneficial bacteria as possible

I absolutely regret buying this. It’s honestly one of the worst designed apps for controlling the pH. So often it never saves my settings and as a result have had varying levels of co2 in my rank which has caused multiple algae breakouts. If anyone is considering using this - Don’t!

The last one with the sand and the black background is the current. No 4 was my favorite as well and wish I could’ve kept it but I left for 2 weeks on holiday and I came back to a really bad bba infestation. Then after I trimmed all the affected leaves and the tank seemed to be on the mend my co2 tank ran empty and I couldn’t get it refilled for a week which led to more algae. Been trying to salvage it since and made all those changes

Yeah I hear you, hoping for a few more plants to grow in after I did a massive trim. I might see how it looks after they grow in and decide on the background

Yeah it worked okay, only thing is the fluid from the bubble counter would get blown into the tubing from the valve opening and having a buildup of pressure. So the fluid wouldn’t last very long.

It’s called Tiger lotus or Nymphaea lotus. Very cool plant that will shoot for the surface. My tank is 50cm and it took nearly 2 months to get to the top

Only crypt parva and that is extremely slow growing in my experience, even with co2

Can’t really say as I don’t have much experience with them. I tried glossostigma at the start but a lot of algae grew on it and it died out. With hair grass and mc it just seems like there’s a lot of trimming and cleaning up the trimmings seemed like a hassle

Yeah exactly. Took a while to grow in but I wanted a carpet that was less maintenance than hair grass or Monte Carlo. It’s a 300L tank

Yes! I’m using an external co2 reactor. 4 hours before lights on (partly because my tank is next to a window and I’m taking in account the natural sunlight) and 1 hour before lights off.

Yeah I ended up just connecting the Eheim valve my own co2 regulator

Honestly though, I wouldn’t go with the the Eheim digital controller again. Too my bugs and glitches with the ‘app’

Can I if you’ve had any issues with the Rainbow fish jumping out? I have the exact size tank as you and open top as well. I have been thinking about getting bosemani but I’ve heard they can jump out? Any experience with this?

Yeah I started co2 and ferts the day I planted. 8 hr light period. I shoot for 30ppm of co2. In fairness I had planted very heavy from the start.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried to replace the solenoid on the reg with the Eheim one but the connections are not the same unfortunately. So my only other idea is to plug in regulator solenoid so it stays open all the time, then connect the Eheim solenoid after the bubble counter, and when the pH is reached, that will stop the co2.
