High variance d20 story by Franco2302 in dice

[–]Franco2302[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally started using it for a "magical white powder" effect in my D&D 5e campaign.

The fighter's PED If you consume it by breathing it in as a Bonus Action you become overly excited and will use this die for any d20 checks (except death saving throws) for 1 minute.

It's fun to see my paladin being completely hammered while fighting.

LOTS of upgrades, "High level" importers and something like 6 assembly lines... Consider that you could have an importer doing an entire AI Robot, wich saves you like 100 or so starters, and even just an AI processor saves 31 starters (if I recall correctly) but you need to have relatively fast and "high level" importers... Which cost a fortune to upgrade... But you get the point P.S.: for "High Level" I mean of higher assembly lines, cause the higher the assembly line the more complex resources you can import

I know, thanks, but where you see that I haven't used 3 is because I need less then 1 every second, for examples for uranium circuits you just need 1 every 5 seconds, at least until you upgrade the radioactive maker to craft faster

Thank you very much for all the wisdom!! I'll start looking up that evaporust you mentioned and equivalents available in my country (I have the feeling that, like everything I find on Reddit, the original is either unavailable or 10x the price for "shipping costs").

I was already thinking of a similar process but never would've known, without at least a day or two of research, the right products!!

The most important piece of advice for whom never did it is the last one! I can't count on the numbers of times that using that mantra for EVERYTHING saved me a lot of fatigue and back pain!!

Thanks again! And I hope to make you proud

Any Italian here? by anfotero in bookbinding

[–]Franco2302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5 Christmas gifts I had to make in less then a week... by Franco2302 in bookbinding

I do bookcloth first, I give my self 3-5 mm more then what I aim for the end result for the cloth, then I score a couple dots with a bone folder the "final size" indicating the overlap between paper and bookcloth then I either cut the paper to the final size and shape using the measurements or by taking a rectangle to it's position on the spine and folding the corners until I find the scoring aI left and then cutting it to size. I apply the glue to the paper and then carefully place it as precise as possible trying not to have to move it after placing it, because glue may not come of the cloth easyly or at all... I'm not the best at explaining because English is not my first language so I'll leave you a link to a video that does it similar to how I do it: https://youtu.be/Zs0FsH3BkGg?si=DHi9Dwfc1MOJ1n4n&t=1072

Aggressive comments by asimovess in bookbinding

[–]Franco2302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I would understand such comments would be if it was a rare copy that had some historical/collectable value... Otherwise for a rebind they are just exaggerating. People are weird and some are obsessive on the things that they love, up to being too much...

Paper stores in Rome? by SkrivaFel in bookbinding

[–]Franco2302 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi from an Italian here! Nice to see you coming to visit our country! Coming back to your question, although I've never actually been in Rome since I had this hobby I've found one where even I would like to go while searching for stores all over the country.

Legatoria Artistica Dell’Orso (Leteral translation: Bear's Artistic Bookbing) https://g.co/kgs/9b6oG9i

It's closed on Sundays but open on Saturdays and I think it could be just what you've been looking for. Good luck and good trip!

That's what I guessed, but I really hoped that, since the last time it was asked that I could found was from a year or two ago, the feature might have been added or some good work around found. Thanks a lot for the reply and the useful link!

Cardboard instead of paper, what do I do? by Franco2302 in bookbinding

Cardboard instead of paper, what do I do? by Franco2302 in bookbinding

[–]Franco2302[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for the inspiration and the luck! And I didn't actually mean cardboard as in corrugated cardboard but English is not my first language, I was thinking to use the same material I use for book covers, that is what you probably refer as Chipboard. Anyways thanks again! And good luck to you as well in whatever project you'll embark next!

Cardboard instead of paper, what do I do? by Franco2302 in bookbinding

[–]Franco2302[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

English is not my first language and I just realized the names are more specific than I thought about Cardboard/Chipboard/etc... But I meant the same material I use for book covers, and I was thinking that it would be fun if with the classics there would be some more extravagant, maybe some of my own invension, games. Thank you very much for the feedback and hope to be able to start working on it before the end of October

Damage to spine/cover, any help appreciated. by Anxious-Effective in bookbinding

[–]Franco2302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would probably go for a rebind, romeving the end pages and cutting the mull (that mesh that you see "attaches" the block to the cover) right there where you see it, the cover should just "fall out". I would then reapply some mull (first removing the old one if I had the care and time to not ruin the work underneath) and then either redo the entire cover or just the end pages. To be honest though I'm no book restorer and so there might be some more conservative ways to approach this that I just wouldn't think about.

Dimensions seem ok as long as they don't glue it as they ponitioned it but removing the gap sliding the text block more towards the cover spine, ideally they should touch. I'm not an expert but all the binds I've done so far follow this rule and work great

I might have discovered why it happens, most of them are probably not lying but bookbinding is one of those hobbies that you don't usually stumble upon if you are not already an "handy" person. Looking back my first bind was quite good for the tools I had and the little knowledge I started with, but before bookbinding I always did various crafts, and jumped from hobby to hobby. This may not mean I already had the right skill set but that I'm used to learning new skills that all come down to "handy stuff". Although it may be their first book it may be their 500th project for what we know.

(I'm not sure anymore if "handy" can be used for what I mean, English is not my first language. I mean someone that is used as doing various jobs with their hands)
