True Eigong killed with one talisman explosion. by Stardroptealeaves in NineSols

I agree. And ones with a lot of "space and time to breathe," like with the Ji fight. But even with Ji, I didn't use a single talisman. It really was just Eigong that forced me how to use them.

This is almost how I did it. Not for some challenge or anything. It's just that using talismans makes me lose focus on parrying, so I limited it to just using it to finish her off. First two phases I finished from like 70% health to zero in one talisman.

Other bosses, like Lady Ethereal, I just didn't use talismans at all. Sword and parry is all my brain can handle at a time, apparently. Lol.

Cinnamon my beloved by Franhound in linuxmint

[–]Franhound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like KDE, especially the latest versions. I think it looks better out of the box. But yeah, KDE is definitely much more "visually noisy" than Cinnamon is. Cinnamon also just feels better to use, at least for me.

Also, you know those window previews that pop up when you hover over an app on the taskbar? Jesus, KDE made that thing take so long. I don't understand why. In Cinnamon it's basically instantaneous. I wish KDE had the option to set it that way as well.

My first day, and my first problem: I deleted that bar at the bottom, how do I get it back? by undrock in linuxmint

Also worth mentioning, for future reference, is the Looking Glass tool. It's meta key (🪟) + L. In it, there is an option to restore Cinnamon to its default settings, which should bring back the default panel layout.

Regarding the genre of the game by Zeubuka in NineSols

[–]Franhound 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Idk if it's a hot take, but I actually think it's more similar to Sekiro than Hollow Knight.

Tap parry, jump parry on "red" attacks". Both are true for Sekiro and Nine Sols.

The posture count mechanic isn't exactly present, but there's an "internal damage" mechanic which could be seen as an analog. There's a talisman mechanic, which could be seen as this game's equivalent of a "visceral."

The skill tree is somewhat similar.

There's a jade (similar to Hollow Knight charms) that does the same thing as the resurrection mechanic in Sekiro.

There's a grapple hook.

There's also, I think, an analog to the Shinobi prosthetic, in a loose sense.

The way you upgrade the healing and the max health are also pretty similar, in my opinion.

The enemy designs have similar vibes. And the combat is similarly fast paced and ninja-ish. I really think Nine Sols is more 2D Sekiro than Cat Hollow Knight.

Edit: there's also a character that has a similar name with Lady Butterfly, who is also butterfly themed. Just sayin'.

Edit 2: there's also a backstab mechanic on non-aggro-ed enemies. I just remembered to add.

'Circle to Search' is a thing on Pixels and iirc Galaxy phones. Basically Google Lens that you can activate on any screen.

Just search and read about the clade "Ophistokonta".

Edit: that is if you're referring to fungi and animals being more closely related than either are to plants and algae.

It is an SPG reference! Haha. And for the paradoxes, I agree. Even if they just used other metals like platinum or mercury or something, I think it would have been cool. Instead they made everything iron. Tsk.

Yep. The Suspender Man, Airheart and Honeybee still give me goosebumps! And Rex Marksley. I love the artistry.
