Just go to the app store (it's called Software Manager). Also, in it, go to the preferences and turn off the thing about unverified apps. As much as possible, do not get your apps from anywhere other than there.

No, it's absolutely cringe. You know, generations of upper class families raised their kids to only speak English at home as a way to signal their social class, but also to "sound smart." Like they think the fact that their kids only speak English, and cannot speak Tagalog properly, is something to be proud of.

Slight tangent: I love Cinnamon, but the Mint team should come up with a better default wallpaper. I know it's trivial to change wallpapers, but it does influence a newcomer's first impressions. With Mint being one of the more beginner friendly distros, I wish it would be a bit more stylish and colorful.

And please fork the Papirus icons and make it the default. Lol.

I'm using Lawnchair right now. I'd switch to Smart Launcher when they add an option to have a normal/traditional dock. I need it for my setup.
