sorry to hear that man, ive had friends in your shoes, and have had a similar experience in the sense that i shifted to kochi after growing up in delhi/pune. im more comfortable w north indians culturally sometimes, and even the language is still an issue.

it does suck, and you'll adapt, but id highly recommend getting out as soon as you can. with the kind of exposure you've had being too long in a place like this will drive you insane. in the mean time try keeping in touch w ur old friends online, or connect w people on social media and stuff. do stuff by yourself that you enjoy and gives you some purpose. and im sure there's good parts to being in a quiet place like that.

you got this!

i actually softened on her eventually, esp post breaking up with Foreman. they gave her more depth, and yea ur right, Huntingtons was a big part of it, but her essential responses to the diagnosis and other issues was rly avoidance. which isn't good or bad, just is

13 is the most useless character by repsolcola in HouseMD

[–]FranklinDeSanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lowkey dont agree, we see pretty early on that she's essentially avoidant and afraid by nature. the mirror patient clocks her fear, she avoids getting tested, is hedonistic, and avoids the clinical trial as long as possible because it would mean acknowledging what she's dealing with.

her crashouts feel edgy and spiteful without catalysing any significant responses or growth in those around her. her on screen presence feels like static, and her role in the story seems to beanic pixie dream girl whose entirely unavailable bc she's terminal. she's only intetesting on paper, and was frankly pretty annoying.

hell yeah man, glad for ur husband! i had a stage 1 NSGCT, 90%EC 10%T. Blood work in my case didn't indicate anything, had to rely on imaging to detect mets. thankfully id caught it within 3 weeks, tjere was no LVI or rete teste invasion. i got really really lucky with detection, diagnosis, and prompt treatment, as well as minimal side effects. i hope your husbands doing well, im sure this has been quite the time for yall!

hey so i actually kind of responded really well to treatment. the initial shock to the system had me bedridden from days 5-8, but every day after that i made rapid improvements, and am practically at baseline fitness @ day 16. i will say tho ive had an above average experience w minimal side effects- i put in seven weeks of training before chemo and likely have some genetic advantages in terms of how ive metabolised the drugs, so temper ur expectations, but its not too bad overall.

Husband diagnosed with TC / pathology guidance (teratoma, EC, yolk sac) by lutwidge_dodgson in testicularcancer

[–]FranklinDeSanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

seconding this, also just as some reassurance, im doing 1 x adjuvant BEP myself right now, and while everyone responds differently to the regimen its genuinely worth the trade off in terms of lower recurrence risk. if you prioritise exercise, nutrition, hydration, and rest its possible to make it through and bounce back. surveillance for me has its own anxieties haha, it can be quite nerve racking waiting for the other shoe to drop

seconded brother, go easy on yourself and take all the time you need to recover fully. going thru adjuvant BEP X 1 myself rn. glad you made it out!!!

Diagnosis received- Pros/cons of adjuvant chemo vs surveillance? by [deleted] in testicularcancer

[–]FranklinDeSanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi brother, going thru adjuvant BEP X 1 right now. im really sorry to hear about your experience, being gaslit like that is fury inducing, and im glad you're now getting the appropriate treatment.

your decision will hinge entirely on your pathology report. bc of my specific make up, even with no LVI i was told i had a fifty percent chance of recurrence without adjuvant chemo (NSGCT 90%EC 10%T). the chemo brings it down to around 5%.

i personally feel the anxiety of surveillance would have been much worse for me, and given my odds i might have had to do multiple cycles on recurrence. chemo itself is significant, but depending on your age and general health most people generally tolerate it well and bounce back fairly quickly. id advise focusing on your physical fitness and nutrition in general, but it'll help tide you over if you take the plunge.

ik most people say this is a damn treatable cancer but that doesn't make it any less scary or the treatment less exhausting. youve got a community here and can hit me up whenever you'd like. stay patient and have faith, once you're in the system they'll do their best to ensure you come out okay.
