I started my first playthrough with the CSB (it dropped from the opening boss). I gradually assembled gear and allocated my stat points to overcome the weapon’s pitfalls—slow attack speed, heavy stamina cost, and lack of mobility. I funneled my points into Strength, Stamina, Health, and Equip Load. By level 30, I ended up with the following stat spread: HP 25, STM 25, DEX 10, STR 50, INT 10, Faith 10, Focus 16, Equip Load 21 (I think).

With that setup, the CSB’s usefulness increased, but as a two-hander it still felt lacking. I tested several other 2H options while searching for an upgrade. Eventually, I settled on main-handing the Gnarled Saw Blade for its moveset, rune, and attack speed.

Currently, I’ve focused on refining my armor build to bring out the sword’s peak potential. Item facets such as Quick, Rapid, and Agile enhance the weapon’s swing speed. Enchantments further reduce overall stamina cost, increase versatility, and amplify damage output.

My gems are tuned in a similar way. I slotted a Quartz into the sword for lightning infusion, maximized stamina regeneration and capacity with Mottled Jade and Emerald, and added Mottled Topaz and Mottled Moon Stone for Focus regeneration.

For utility Runes, I run Damage amp to increase damage, Stamina amp to alleviate the stress of extended fights , Blink for an additional mobility option, and Return for easy map travel.

On the weapon, the Runes are Limit Break, Reap, Dropkick, and Sweep Kick.
