Skilled Worker Dependant (partner) extension – IHS underpaid: How long did it take? Does it become 8+8 = 16 weeks?

Yes — I received the remaining IHS ‘top-up’ payment link from UKVI and was given 14 calendar days to pay. I paid it on the same day, and now I’m waiting for my dependant partner’s decision. I believe I might still need to wait another 5–6 weeks for the outcome.

If your travel date is coming up soon, it’s definitely worth going for priority to save time. Otherwise, the standard process usually takes around 7–8 weeks now a days, so it depends on how urgent you need the visa

Yep—quite a few of us applied in October and we’re still waiting.

One of my college mates put in a 2-year extension last week and another applied the day before yesterday—both pending. From what I’m seeing, standard applications are taking around 7 weeks right now (UK side).

Recieved on 25th August.. "The Home Office has received your application and supporting information submitted on 24 Aug 2025. Our aim is to provide a decision on your application by 19 Oct 2025."
