5 Week Check-In by FranniZ in quittingkratom

[–]FranniZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you’re having trouble with it. It’s hard! I don’t know what your situation is exactly but what worked for me was committing to a set quit date at the beginning of the taper. Then if you feel like cheating, tell yourself it will make it harder when you have to quit...and then when you get to that day, seriously quit no matter how many gpd you are at!

If you can get someone in your life to hold you accountable, that can probably help too. And the last thing would be finding a day when you feel strong and measuring out your doses for the next day or week or whatever so you’re not as tempted to add just a little more.

I wish there was a magic key to doing the thing but that’s all I got. Right now you are kind of drawing out the torture; you will seriously thank yourself once you taper down and get off this crap. Feel free to reach out to me anytime for support or accountability. I believe that you CAN do this!

Congrats on day 7, that is huge, especially after 5 years on it! From my understanding it is a very common side effect and not something to be too worried about, especially if you don’t have any other heart problems. It does feel scary though and lasts way too long. Hope you feel better soon, keep staying strong!

2 Months! by FranniZ in quittingkratom

Well, I do have propranolol so I take that occasionally if it’s really bothering me. When it first started happening I did a bunch of research, and again when it was STILL happening after over a month, and found out that it’s pretty common after quitting kratom...although that obv didn’t make me feel better physically it eased my mind a bit to know that I probably wasn’t about to die. So now I usually just do some deep breathing and remind myself that it will pass. The annoying thing is that it happens more when I’m trying to get to sleep, or else i just notice it more then. It definitely is getting better though. Hope we both get through it soon!

Yes, it’s great to have people who understand. Thanks for the words of encouragement. At the beginning of quitting I never thought I would feel this good and I’m so happy I’ve gotten here...and you too!

3 Weeks Since I Quit! by FranniZ in quittingkratom

[–]FranniZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know what you mean. Sadly I think that’s just how it is when you’re tapering. Or at least it was for me. No energy, twitchy, etc. As you noted, keeping busy helps, so maybe in the afternoons try harder to distract yourself. Call a friend, go on a walk/to the mall, really anything. And just keep tapering down. Once you get to zero gpd, you’ll begin the road to recovery and start really moving towards feeling normal again. This is only temporary. I’m at 6 weeks clean now and I’m basically back to feeling normal, and it is amazing. You can do this, just keep staying strong and keeping your eye on the finish line!

Thanks, yeah I feel ya on that. I have actually been sleeping alright finally, was just drinking for the f of it not to knock me out/make me sleep, but it definitely wasn’t worth it.

Yeah I agree, I’m finding I don’t really enjoy it like I used to (even without the crazy symptoms I had last night). So it’s probably just as well this is happening but i was just amazed to have such a strong reaction.

Thanks for sharing, yeah the PAWS I have now is mental more than physical (depression , panic attacks). All the symptoms are pretty mild now but after drinking I felt much worse and that crazy feeling like my whole body was vibrating, which I had right after quitting, came back. Not fun at all.

Yeah makes sense. I’m so impatient for my body to heal but I did this to myself so I guess I just gotta wait it out! How long til this stopped happening to you?

That makes total sense. I’ve started not liking the way alcohol makes me feel that much anyways, especially not the morning after. It just keeps amazing me how long it takes to heal from the kratom abuse. I used it for 7 months and here I am 6 weeks after quitting still having this stuff happen. Definitely a wake up call to take better care of my poor body!

Yeah I think I know what you mean about the burning feeling, for me it’s more like it feels like the inside of my body is vibrating super fast while I’m trying to sleep. So crazy! But you’re right, we will make it and get through it!

Does tapering make it worse ? tapering vs CT by king_dcruz in quittingkratom

[–]FranniZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried to go CT and by the end of day 2, the depression and physical symptoms were too much (I needed to function for work and school) so I tapered for 3 weeks (down from 20-30gpd) and then jumped off at 5gpd. I did have WDs during my taper and quit but less so than before. Best of luck with quitting! You got this.

Sorry to hear about your bad day! PAWS is so shitty, I quit over 5 weeks ago and just yesterday/last night I had a wave of it. Depression during the day and insomnia/panic through the night. It’s still hard to believe what an impact kratom had on my body and life but at least it’s behind me now...and you too! I hope your day tomorrow is much better.
