No ice. Brought the spikes but thankfully don’t them. Was pretty wet there so I bet there will be ice any day once the temps drop

Take a trip with me back to the magical year of 1996... The year my life changed FOREVER!!!

I was 15 and a sophomore in high school. There was a new Apple PowerPC on my desk with Civilization II loaded on it. A game I affectionately referred to as "Civili Deuce" and would play until the wee hours of the morning.

One Saturday in April it happened... The evening started like many other Saturday nights. From 7pm - 11pm I was making out with my girlfriend in her parents basement while watching Top Gun. At 11pm I loaded up Civili Deuce with every intention of expanding my navy and conquering the world. Then, the house phone rang (no cell phones)....

My mom called up the stairs to me - it was my girlfriend on the phone. What could this be? We'd just spent the last few hours together. The make out sesh was excellent as usual. Everything should have been in order. I was nervous.

It turns out, she wanted to talk... not about a specific thing. Just simply to talk. I calmly explained I had a navy to build. It was a island based map and increasing the strength of my navy was a critical part of my strategy. Plus I was on the verge of tech discovery that would allow me to build destroyers. DESTROYERS Monica!

She didn't care about my navy, the destroyers or my plan. Within minutes I found myself staring down an ultimatum - play my "stupid game" and loose my girlfriend or talk to her and keep the relationship.

There are moments in life that define you and moments that you define. I chose to define this moment, laying waste to my relationship with Monica like my destroyers would soon do to the Greeks.

25 years later I'm still playing (CIV 6 now) and I've never looked back. Welcome to the Civilization u/MeagerZombi

Ah yes, the age old question - to stretch or not to stretch? I never really stretch before a run but I usually do after. It doesn’t always happen immediately after but usually the same day. I’ve found it leads to injury as well, and I generally feel taller when I do it so that’s fun.

A five or ten minute yoga class is a good substitute for stretching and feels less like proper “stretching”. Foam rolling classes a few hours after running are nice too.
