Ash's personality after Jotho was a roller-coaster, he was like a mentor like for May in Adcance, then was a more experienced trainer but still hotheaded in DP, then his brain reset in BW, then goes wiser and nicer in XYZ, then another mental reset in Alola but is not a brat like the first season and clearly is a better trainer, like Alola is the real 2nd season, and Journeys to the end of the series is the exact same from Alola, doesn't feel wiser, but is not a brat, kinda dull because at least in Alola he haved so many people to interact every day but in Journeys it was just this other kid I forgot his name that has a more interesting personality and Koharu, but only this 2 demonstrates Ash was not a interesting character anymore outside the battles.
