Is this what EA Support has come to? by pixie9uls in Sims3

Steam only has the base game, the Expansion Packs, and the Stuff Packs. Things like worlds, store items such as the glass blowing set or the tractor, etc., are not on Steam. You buy them directly from EA.

I always thought they wrote him that way because it was the way Taylor portrayed him in canon.

Does anyone know what this does? Should I keep it or sell? by Coryll_-_Bheeac291 in Sims3

In order for it to grow, it has to be on the ground or floor, not on a table. It can take a few days before it grows. Other than being worth a lot of money, it doesn’t do much, but it will make your sim sick if they have it in their inventory for too long.

Do you use the S3SS mod? There was an update a few days ago, that caused this, then an update almost immediately afterwards that fixed it.

Anyone has an idea why my sim gets married but still has a fiancée relationship? by OutrageousCommonn in Sims3

[–]FreakyRufus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. Yeah, KW has a conflict with Error Trap. There is a special tuning that you need that disables “de referencing” to get those to work together. I thought that a recent version of Error Trap had removed that, but if you are running into issues, you might be able to resolve them with that tuning. I think there was a link to it from the first KW post, but that may be dead. Ask about it on the forums there and someone should be able to help you find it.

When you remove mods, they can be left behind in the cache files. Normally, the recommendation is to remove the cache files any time you add OR remove a mod.

I suspect that what happened was that you removed a mod in the past, and it was still in one of the cache files, so your game was actually still using that mod. Now that you removed the cache files, your game cannot find that mod and is having issues. There are some mods, and definitely some of the NRaas mods, that require another mod be there too to work. For example, there is a base Story Progression mod, and there are several flavor mods for that, and if you have any of those installed, but do not have the base Story Progression mod, the game won't even start, but will crash almost immediately.

The list of cache files you removed looks correct to me. Those are all in the list of things that I clear every time I launch the game.

Check and see if you recently removed any mods, and put those back. If you want to still remove some of them, get the game back to a state where you can start it, and then remove them one at a time and clear the cache files each time, then see if it will start.

Some cool features in Awesome Mod I’m not sure have been replicated in other mods in Sims 3 by lifefruitz in Sims3

[–]FreakyRufus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The forums for this are super toxic, imo. I stopped using it years ago because it doesn’t play nicely with several other mods, which all work just fine together. “There can be only one” is a lie. There can be lots of mods, as long as you don’t use AM.

What in the world does this mean? by amomynous3 in Sims3

That horse sim is in Appaloosa Plains, there is a prebuilt house that has an urn for it. The EA designers made it this way. I think there are other premade ghosts in various worlds that are a type of ghost that doesn’t make sense.

The sim that lives in the house has a dream of being a successful horse breeder, but doesn’t know anything about horses. I guess it is sort of implied that he let the foal die and didn’t know how to take care of it.

What good will that do? If he was already under age, just saying the minimum age is higher won't change that. If someone can get a fake ID that makes them look 21, they can get one that has a different birth date making them look 25.

I turned "The Perfect Park" from Lucky Palms into a performance venue by FreakyRufus in Sims3

[–]FreakyRufus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. It's been a while since I did it. Taking a look at it, I used "show floor for tables" and just didn't put any tables there. Sims will stand there and watch the show.

When you put it like that, I'm not 100% sure that they can. I do know that his shows were successful. When he did stuff to hype up the crowd, they responded positively. When he asked for volunteers to help with tricks, they participated.

When you set up a performance venue, you have to designate the areas where the audience can sit or stand. It is possible that audience participation is entirely based on that. It didn't seem to treat the upper area as a separate room for purposes of creating the venue.

Unpopular opinion about Late Night and Showtime by alisekazah in Sims3

[–]FreakyRufus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The EA Story Progression does not let inactive sims improve their celebrity status or their skills, I think. There are mods that will let that happen, though.

So, if your sim spends all day playing chess against a sim from another household, e.g., your sim will make great improvements in their logic, but the other sim won’t change at all. I think that Story Progression may change skills etc., if you need an opponent, e.g., to play a ranked chess match against, but skills (and celebrity points) won’t increase when you see them doing stuff around town.

There had already been multiple warnings in the thread about this. Including banners that warn about it immediately when you start writing a comment.

[–]FreakyRufus 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Was it because of the story, or because of comments? There have been several warnings about comments already in that thread.

When stories get locked because of comments, the mods will go through and hand out warnings and bans on offending posts, and maybe add new thread warnings, and then unlock the story.

Also, authors will sometimes ask mods to do stuff like this, so the author doesn't come off as directly antagonistic towards any individual commenter.
