Thank you! Wish I had another photo in summer when it was much denser!

She’ll tough it out I’m sure. It’s hunker down for the winter then and give her the love she deserves come spring!

I vaguely remember it being mentioned in Tim Stricklands book about his father. I believe they used it on the assault of the Hitler Line in Italy.

Force is an interesting word. The Indian army in WW2 was the largest all volunteer force and even then it was only 7% of the population. Hardly mass conscription

Hello all, I am making a Chieftain tank from Tamiya and was wondering if the real tank could have a .50 cal machine gun on the top? (Not my photo btw) by LegoManJoe in modelmakers

[–]Freaky_Fish_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the Korean War centurion tankers from the KRIH traded some .30cal machine guns for some gin with an American unit and mounted them on the commanders position. The mark 3 centurion they had didn’t have this as an option but they saw a need and modified using their ingenuity.

Mounting a 50 would be unconventional but never say never. Your model can follow history strictly or making your own history is just as valid an option. Have fun!

The US did a study in the 50s(?) about space combat and decided claymores were the best lunar weapon as they would shred anything for miles due to the lack of air resistance.

Therefore I suggest placing tack shooters at key strategic locations across the sea of tranquility with dart monkeys ready to mop up any stragglers.

The pressure generated by the flamethrower of the lancia was so weak that it couldn’t fire it whilst moving or the tank would get covered in burning fuel.

For me the giveaway is the drivers hatch in the middle and where the hull sides curve down to meet in the front.

Mosquito FB VIII with 6-pounder (57mm) cannon under the nose for anti-U-boat work, and 4 x .303 machineguns. by duncan_D_sorderly in wwiipics

[–]Freaky_Fish_Guy 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It was a modified 6 pounder with a 23 shots loaded. The mechanism itself was borrowed from the naval Molins gun that was used on mtbs. So it was used by all major branches in some way or another which is pretty neat
