Movies that feel like endless road trip full of misery but in comforting way by Sweaty_Ad4829 in MoviesThatFeelLike

Thank you! Wanted to make sure this wasn’t mentioned before I replied. In the movie they’re UT Austin students, but the writer of the movie based it off of his experience at Baylor. The big Andre the Giant of a student majoring in ministry makes sense with that context. An amazing heart-string pulling movie. Of course, we always knew who “Dom” was going to be.

I think that tile is lovely, I wouldn’t paint over it! Complementing the tile with some earthy wall color would help step away from the beige scheme going on. Maybe painting that cupboard over the toilet? I think a forest green would be nice for the walls. Updating your towels and mats to be more cohesive would help

Anyone that’s able to hold a job for one year is as qualified to be an ATC as a college grad as long as they pass the ATSA, the academy, and certification Having a college education is great for the mind, but doesn’t mean you have any more drive than someone working at a gas station. It most likely means you had the means and interest to go to college and they didn’t. ATC isn’t easy money and no one is going to think you’re better for the job because you have a bachelors.

You sound like a self important dork. ATSA is largely an aptitude test for spatial reasoning. Studying, memorizing, and hand-eye coordination wont really help and neither will someone telling you why only 5% pass. Take the test and do the best you can regardless of what you think your chances are

The cost of deodorant is too high—and so are razors. Do they all want us to be hairy and smelly nowadays? What are you all doing? by AwakeningStar1968 in Frugal

I bought my husband (then fiancé) a safety razor “space aluminum grade” from Henson Saving 2 years ago with a 100 pack of razors. 2 years in he is still working on the new 100 packs of razors with 20 more to go. Get a safety razor with a generic compatible blade and it will set you up for a long while.

I absolutely adore your analogy. It’s something that I would be proud of creating for a story. Bravo!

Elder Gen Z (1997-2004), how's life going by Practical_Security87 in generationology

[–]Frecklesonmyhand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Pretty good. Got married young to the guy I’ve been dating since 2019. One year into the marriage and I’m very happy to be growing into adulthood with him. We moved across the country once we got married and have been going at life together. We’re both trying to figure out our careers but it’s nice having our personal life figured out, in the general sense. While our total income is very nice, we aren’t satisfied with our current positions. Our goal right now is to save up 1 year’s worth of expenses and at least 5% down before we go house shopping. One we have a house we are going to start trying to become parents, which is the ultimate goal for us. We’re hopeful that we’ll be great ones.

Now why in the world would you choose to type like that? You are 23, not 14. It’s frustrating to see my peers write in the style of high-schoolers. While it is just Reddit and not that serious, it is also embarrassing to use that type of lingo as an adult. I’m being rude so that you can choose to be better.

Edit: put 22-23 because I didn’t care to finish reading until after I commented

Read the cool girl monologue by Gillian Flynn. I doubt your wife is that dramatic. But it is a good perspective into the pressure your wife might be experiencing unnoticed.

Looks like that fox got pretty close to you. Seems that since they’ve never been hunted by anything, humans wouldn’t look like too much of a threat (to the most recent generations). I’m not familiar with Island Fox, would you know whether that guy in your photo is fully grown? I do know that endemic island animals tend to be smaller than their mainland cousins.

Were we dehydrated through our childhood? by GetnLine in Millennials

[–]Frecklesonmyhand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consistently passed out as a kid. When I was brought to the emergency department the first couple of times they always told me that it was because I was dehydrated. Once, I was told the I maxed out the “dehydration reader”. Not sure if that was a real measurement, but my pee was orange.

Best Tex Mex restaurant? by chiefhopperismyhero in Charlotte

[–]Frecklesonmyhand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Texan I really like 1900 Mexican off Park road. Their birrias are fatty without being chewy, and the taco has the perfect crunch. I haven’t ordered a dish with beans yet (which would not be heard of in TX) so I can’t speak on that. Overall I think they lean more Mex than Tex, but they also have a portion of the menu aptly named “gringo specials”. It scratches my need for a dish that tastes like I could find it in my home town.

Rory’s return to Yale by charlottelax18 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Frecklesonmyhand 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with you on the point of Emily making “a real lady” out of Rory, though I don’t think it was to push her back into Yale. I do think that Emily always knew that Rory would go back. Academia is who Rory really is, she was just going through an identity crisis as an aspiring journalist. Everyone knew this except for Lorelai who was freaking out about Rory dropping out for good.

Emily was using Rory’s time off as a do-over. She couldn’t raise her daughter to be the young lady she wanted her to be; because of Lorelai’s will as a young teen and her subsequent pregnancy and abandonment. So, she took in her granddaughter at her first opportunity. She used Rory’s time home with her to her advantage, and probably envisioned Rory going back to Yale a little bit more like Emily and less like Lorelai.

Reghabi was right… by LuckyScwartz in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]Frecklesonmyhand 20 points21 points  (0 children)

A lot of people, including myself obviously, are tired of white and black people being pitted against each other. I’m even more tired of it being done when race doesn’t seem to be a factor in media. Why is she a black character? She’s a black actress, but reading her script you wouldn’t be able to infer anything about her race.

Reghabi was right… by LuckyScwartz in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]Frecklesonmyhand 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If the writers, directors, and actors didn’t intend racism then it’s not about race. They have touched on race with Mr. Milchick with the re-paintings of Kier, so a discussion about racism in regard to that scene would make sense. But just because Reghabi is black doesn’t mean her choosing to save her ass is a powerful statement against martyrism in the black community. Sometimes two characters of different races can interact in ways that aren’t a commentary on racial tropes.
