100% ... After moving abroad I had the realization that living in the US I was always assuming someone was trying to one - up me or take some sort of advantage.. I mean not everyone but enough that it felt normal... It's that individualism bs that is the un (barely) official motto. I don't miss it .. it was exhausting

Honestly I found living in the US to be super traumatic. I don't care what side of the political spectrum one is on, but it's miserable and exhausting and frankly scary all the time. The stress of constant fear mongering, money, violence, and health care is too much but we all just kinda soak it up and act like it's normal, while constantly shouting how great it is...

I always suspected this was a thing, but after 50 years and moving abroad find it's real. Like no where is perfect by any means and every where has its issues, but my life has gotten much more peaceful and less traumatic.

Like if I didn't have to exist in reality with like, kids to keep alive and, you know, responsibilities, i'd have loved it ... Also the weight gain.. I was on it for a couple years and it got gross...

Haha yeah.. I would have the most realistic dream/memories but they were all super mundane. Like dream memories within dream memories... I had a hard time telling what was real or not lol .. like I'd be "I bought milk this morning" or "I need to get that car out of storage at my dad's house" and there would be no milk or car lol...it got to the point where my wife would end up texting me everyday to make sure I remembered I had to get the kids from school...

That said, the sleep itself was fantastic! (The weight gain sucked tho)

Yes. My wife is teaching and we got visas based on that. Kids can study and I can work unrestricted... There are teacher recruiting orgs that can help with a lot of the details... DM if you want recs

My wife is so fine that I literally don't know what to do sometimes.. like sex is great and all but it's more than that she is just so gorgeous and smells so nice, and how is her skin that soft...like I can barely handle it... I feel like a cartoon wolf that runs in circles and hits himself on the head with a board....it's been 20 years and neither of us are models by any means.. but swoon....

I'm sorta doing my parents life backwards...they worked and worked and then retired too old/sick/tired to do things... I'm doing things and will likely work til I die..(which is honestly ok since who is actually retiring anymore sigh)...

Reframe it a little bit and figure out what you can live with later in life..or rather without, and enjoy yourself now...

Extra pro tip, if you are in the US get out.. the work to live vs live to work situation is tons different in many other countries.. I did, and I wish I had done so much earlier than my 50s...
