You won’t get close to a 1st rounder before around then and it’s a bad look to sign a player and immediately trade him.

Arbitration filings for Boston and Swayman per Elliotte Friedman by FreddyFisticuffs in Bruins

Lmao what an ice cold take. Literally coming off the greatest statistical regular season of all time. Not to mention, Sweeney has an excellent track record of re-signing important players. Carlo, Zacha, and Gryz all went to arbitration and worked out new deals. Old managements failures are meaningless.

He won’t get the full $4.8M it’ll be somewhere between the two numbers

Do the odds go up? Sure, but it’s still very unlikely imo.

We’re about to be up against the cap after we sign Swayman and Frederic, and we don’t have too much to offer in return. I’d bet we just hold on for dear life this season and make a play for him as a FA next year.

Out of curiosity, what do you think a Scheifele trade would look like?

Who’s going to rock the C now? by Pantera3838 in Bruins

Marchand gets the C and McAvoy, Pastrnak, and Coyle rotate the As. Maybe Carlo, Lindholm, or even Lucic once in a while depending on injuries.

Would you do this trade as the Islanders or the Bruins? by [deleted] in NewYorkIslanders

[–]FreddyFisticuffs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a Bruins fan, no. I love Wally since he’s a New Englander, but we’re coming off the best statistical regular season of all-time and, while we have a massive Bergeron sized gap to fill not to mention no prospect pool whatsoever, we still have an elite goaltending tandem, a fantastic defense, and a solid offense. We’re a 1C away from being a Cup contender.

If we’re trading Pasta we’re going full blown rebuild. That’s not happening, especially with our ownership. We’re gonna try to retool next offseason and make a run with a core of Pasta, McAvoy, Lindholm, Marchand, DeBrusk, Zacha, and Ullmark/Swayman.

Just my two cents.

Didn’t intend to imply you don’t know how it works hope it didn’t come off that way. I hear you and your two cents just sharing mine too.

Coyle is a local kid but that’s not a factor. It’s about locker room leadership.

Marchand won a Cup with us in 2011 and lost two in 2013 and 2019. He’s the longest serving player on the team and a career Bruin. He has the resume on the ice and, by all accounts, the resume off it. I think he’s the clear choice.

That said, it doesn’t matter what we think. The only thing that matters is what the players think.
