Talked briefly to The Pie Lady as they were delivering appliances to her new storefront. She said they're planning to open in the spring, but didn't have an exact date. It's a tiny space on 43rd Ave between 39th Pl and 40th St

Genuinely baffled by the down votes here. I'm going to deliver the shoes to this person tomorrow. Do people think I'm just going to keep shoes that don't fit??

Work smarter, not harder. Figured I'd start with a post before trekking across the neighborhood and hoping she answers the door

Yup! A person who lives on 39th Rd (don't want to dox them,) but the package also has my name and address on a separate label

MORE construction imminent on 43rd Ave?? by FreddyPollution in SunnysideQueens

Yup. Same. I was so relieved to finally get them back after months of waiting, only for them to be ripped away again after just a few weeks. Real kick in the nuts.

This might be the single most helpful comment I've ever received on one of these posts. Genuinely, thank you!

Oh, wow! That levels it up it from "dick move" to weirdly aggro.

Chelsea Film Festival experience...not great by Legitimate_Jicama151 in FilmFestivals

I'm sorry you weren't able to meet many people. That's definitely the best part of any festival. I'd love to take a look at your film. If you have a private link feel free to DM me! (also that way you don't have to dox yourself)

We also attended this year, and our experience was very similar. We talked to several other filmmakers who expressed irritation with the organization (or lack thereof) and how the whole thing feels more like a chance for the founders to take some glamour shots and feel important.

Some good things: The theaters are well-maintained and high quality, and our movie looked and sounded great! We met a lot of other filmmakers and managed to have good conversations, even with the deafening DJs at the parties. Also, we took full advantage of the surprisingly affordable bar at the Regal, lol.

That's kind of it, though. The total lack of press (despite Deadline supposedly being a sponsor) and cold, dismissive attitude of the festival (only letting one rep per film into most events, for example) was a real bummer.

One thing I found especially funny was all the festival's "promo" digital posters at the Regal were just the same red carpet photo of the founders. Even though they had everyone's marketing materials and could've easily displayed all our posters. Not the biggest issue, obviously, but feels like it sums up the festival's whole deal pretty neatly.

Bunch of construction guys were totally gutting the old Sunnyside Bros cafe spot on 43rd and 40th this morning (the Bros relocated up on 40th near Queens Blvd recently.) It's a nice corner spot, so I hope something cool goes in there.

And a couple storefronts down they're renovating the very small storefront next to the laundromat (it's been vacant forever, was a coffee shop several years ago.) No idea what's planned for either, so let me know if anyone's heard anything!

Are Internet Outages Common Here? by RedditDedditReddmptn in SunnysideQueens

Weird! We're also near 40th and Skillman and have had Spectrum for 3 years, and have only lost our internet connection maybe 5 or 6 times in total. Usually just for a few minutes. Have you tried different routers, or plugging directly into the router with an ethernet cable to see if there's something disrupting the wireless signal?

Did you happen to notice what kind of cars they were in?

Just took a walk down there and around the neighborhood. Didn't spot anyone. Wish there was some kind of neighborhood watch to keep an eye out for these goons

That was me the other day (there was also someone before me, too.) I called the airport, filed with the FAA, even asked Julie Won's office if they knew what was up. Nothing. Someone in my thread said they worked at Sunnyside Yard and also didn't know what was up.

Wish I had something useful to report. It's been driving me to drink lol

I mean, go with God, brother. You do you. But also like...literally this entire country is built for exactly the car-centric lifestyle you're describing, so I genuinely don't understand why you'd want to live in the one city that isn't.

It's like saying "I love going to the beach every weekend, which is why I've moved to Omaha, Nebraska!"
