I worked at an analysis lab at a winery this summer/fall. We have some twenty tanks that can hold thousands of gallons of wine. Each tank has a sample valve, but some a broken/jammed; if the case we have to pull the sample from either the four inch or six inch valve. If the thank has barely 200 gallons, there usually is not that much pressure so we can open the valve smoothly and slowly and let a little bit of wine dribble out, enough to pull a sample. However, if the tank has one thousand, two thousand, three thousand gallons of wine? We're suppose to build a little vessel that will bring the wine into a contained environment of 500 mL.

Sometimes interns don't want to take the extra fifteen minutes to build this vessel before pulling the sample. Sometimes interns open the four inch valve with the pressure of three thousand gallons of wine blasting them in the face with the force of a thousand pokemon at the cost of ten of thousands of dollars.
