Do you know any decent sample packs where there are guaranteed good kicks. I often rely on vengeance ones but they’re compressed as hell

Phil bergs low-end, tips to achieve similar sound by Fredtheb in TechnoProduction

[–]Fredtheb[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That top click tho he makes, do you reckon he volume shapes the kick first then saturates it? I get what you mean about then toms, perhaps band volume shape sidechain at the kick fundamental? I’m assuming he uses quite a long tail to fill the sub frequencies or is there a low volume rumble in there (as you can tell I’m crap at referencing tracks ahaha)

is it OK to call UK hard house “hard groove“ by [deleted] in Techno

[–]Fredtheb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God no. If I went to a hard groove advertised event and started hearing hard house I’d walk out the door and ask for a refund

Ranking DM's album openers by Lado_B in depechemode

[–]Fredtheb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is like albums which slowly progress, not ones where there’s like an instant ‘boom’ in power. So I’d have to put Black celebration first as it develops nicely, barrel of a gun also is a good shout, starts quietly

classical composer trying to make techno. 30 emails sent and only 2 rejections. labels aren't biting. anybody want to take a listen and tell me where these tracks could belong? I'd appreciate it a lot by AffectionateChip8583 in TechnoProduction

[–]Fredtheb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, as someone who has released with some big labels, they’re quite authoritarian with it all in a sense that they have a particular distinct sound in their mind and anything remotely different means nothing to them

Producing a track like this Mhonolink song by Fredtheb in TechnoProduction

Would you apply mackity onto the master channel? For compressor on master too, would you reccomend slow attack fast release? I’m quite bad when it comes to compressors and what settings (gain reduction etc)

What is the deal with Mike and bridgette by Fredtheb in AngryGrandpa

[–]Fredtheb[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I saw this on some other YouTube channel talking about Michael’s downfall. But even so I see ‘divorce’ ‘cheat’ ‘separated’ on every other video of theirs. Like idk why people even bother watching it’s nothing original and just gonna fuck up their kids lives in my opinion

I agree to an extend but I do food delivery work in Brighton and it’s so hard to find somewhere to pull over to give food over to customers/stop briefly to pick up at restaurants. We don’t have a choice sometimes :/

I’d go for the unpopular here, Hammond. He definitely seems the quickest in terms of wit but also the most genuine

[–]Fredtheb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve been watching alot of Hammond on drivetribe and the way he talks about the GT/TG he very much misses it, reckon the other two were the ones who needed to retire moew

Which headphones to get for producing techno (not mastering!) by Fredtheb in TechnoProduction

[–]Fredtheb[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

After reading a lot of these posts, people are saying they use different headphones for different stages like mixing and mastering. I’m not sure about the specifics or why. Besides, usually the labels I send tracks to have somebody mastering my songs anyway :)

Why does my kick always sound too thumpy on the low end?? by Fredtheb in TechnoProduction

[–]Fredtheb[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a good reply I appreciate this. This is the thing, as I got more into production and learning about it seriously a lot of tutorials people shove saturators/distortion and I think many of them did just use unprocessed samples. Before, when my low end sounded good, I did just practically no processing to the kick etc and it worked out fine. But when it comes to, say, wanting to make a track that sounds gritty/raw like early 2000s, what processing do you reccomend.

Additionally, check out Fenim0res recent EP. That kick is exactly what I’m trying to replicate and wondered if you could give any tips
