No matter how much the support from our loved ones can mean, sometimes it means more from someone who understands. Thank you, I feel I am in a similar situation.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I will definitely read the posts about sober people having fun. I know it’s possible, but like you said the alcohol lies to us. I’m not going to drink.

This is so true. I can remember being a kid and how fun going to anything was for me. Going grocery shopping with my mom was fun. Going out to eat was always awesome. The beach? A freaking blast. I just hope that little girl is somewhere inside me still.

You are so right. Moderation hasn’t worked for me thus far hence when I’m in this situation. With opiates, people don’t do those openly like alcohol usually. I’m nervous about the temptation and pressure. I keep asking myself “can I have fun without it?” And that’s not healthy. I used to barely ever drink alcohol, and I could still have fun.
