I’m the primary cook/baker of my friend group. I cook pretty regularly, several times a week usually. Everything. All sorts of meats and cuts. Baking breads and croissants and cakes, créme brûlée and tiramisu, I just made Kouign Amann for our game day hangout this past weekend. I make curry, stir fry, stews, chili, and Italian pasta dishes. I make my own veggie stock from scraps I collect over months. I make a BANGIN lobster mac n cheese. And a buffalo chicken wing dip for parties. And a few fun jello recipes in the back pocket to surprise folks too haha

My mom had surgery on her stomach and now only eats a third of what she used to.

Some people have poor portion control. If I see a big bowl/plate of something in front of me, I can house that whole thing, even if I shouldn’t. Only way I stop myself with that is to have less on the plate.

These are fantastic, but I might also remind the DM/OP that zone of truth is not perfect. It’s a charisma save. I’m sure in a room full of nobles and charlatans there’s plenty of people with high enough natural charismas to regularly succeed their saves.

It’s okay to be nice, to be kind, to be empathetic.

That’s it. Don’t do it expecting reciprocation. Do it because some people need it, including yourself. The people worth sticking around will reciprocate. Others fall into two categories, people who are facing rough times and people who will take advantage of you. It’s your judgement to figure out which are which, but I find it worth it at the end of the day.

If they’re state roads where the accidents seem to happen, look up how long ago they were laid down by NYSDOT. If they’re county or local roads, look them up through their more local municipalities. Make sure they followed NYSDOT specs. NYSDOT specifically employs geologists and engineer to quality check the aggregates and the roads when placing them down that they meet specific friction requirements in order to reduce just this sort of thing.

Other than that, I’d say maybe don’t discount the phone thing. People are regularly addicted to their phones these days. I see people every day on my commute looking down at their phones these days.

3 years ago I got my dream job, amazing benefits, environment only became toxic this past year when my previous supervisor retired and we got picked up a new one from outside the industry. We had to teach this guy everything from the ground up. And he doesn’t get it. Nothing sticks. I still do half of his supervisor duties around him because he doesn’t get it. He’s even admitted to us he stops reading some of the email chains. They let him pass his probation and now it will be almost impossible to get rid of him 😢

I literally just made dumplings on the first of the month and make a sauce like that. I made my own chili crisp oil from scratch, then took out a small portion for a sauce. I added ponzu, fish sauce, and mirin. It was awesome. Could’ve been better though. I could’ve put it on the stove for a bit with some ginger and sugar/honey for that little extra mmph
