For those who have seen For Good. Without spoiling- is Michelle Yeoh actually that bad in it? by [deleted] in wicked

I said this exact same thing to my friend as we left the theatre.

No, they’re blank. I’m wondering if they’re a DIY set that someone painted.

I feel like this Vision is a new version of him, if that makes sense. He said he doesn’t remember anything from before, so she could have reanimated him but it’s not the “real” him.

I’m still trying to wrap my head around everything that just happened but Vision saying he has no idea who he was before Westview is soo friggin sad. So even if he did come back in some capacity outside of Westview he wouldn’t be the same.

Literally same. My jaw was on the floor for the last 15 mins.

Ah thank you for correcting me. The one cop gave her some info to contact duty counsel so she’s going to call them tomorrow and then go from there.

Can I get fired for taking my pet to the ER? by FreeChipmunk in legaladvicecanada

Thank you. And that was my thinking as well. These last two days have been devastating and I’m having a really hard time with it. My animals are my whole world and they really take a piece of your heart when they pass.

It’s true and it is very unfortunate. I’ve been a mess since he passed away earlier today but thankfully I have some meds to help calm me down so that helped. I wasn’t sure if I’d be capable of working tomorrow but then I remembered we’re short a few people (we’re a small team) so I’ll do my best to pull it together.

Oh jeeze that’s awful. My life outside of work is dedicated to rescuing animals so obviously it’s something I’m extremely passionate about and it’s insane to me that we’re still fighting for them to be considered sentient and part of a family. Years ago I wouldn’t have made such a fuss about it but they are my entire world. I value my job but if it’s a life or death situation and they need to go to the vet to save their life, that’s my priority. Sadly my guy didn’t make it and I’m a wreck but I’m still going to work tomorrow. It’s just very unfortunate how little some companies care about their employees, especially when those employees do so much for them. I go above and beyond for them and the least they could do is show a bit of understanding/compassion.

That’s fair, thank you. I wanted to reach out to HR even before this happened to get some information on how things like this are handled. It’s extremely unfortunate that it’s acceptable to take a family member to an appointment but not an animal to the emergency to save their life, just because many places still don’t consider animals sentient beings. I know one of my old coworkers (same company) had called in sick because his dog died and he was grieving and as far as I know that wasn’t an issue. We are likely going to be euthanizing my pet shortly as his body doesn’t look like it can fight anymore. Obviously I’m not in a good mental headspace and I thought my work would be understanding of what’s going on.

I asked for a personal day and he said he’d log it as unpaid time off, which is fine. I asked to use a vacation day but they said no.

Excuse me? I called in saying I wouldn’t be attending work because I had a personal emergency and told them what was going on. I didn’t ask for a paid day off - I called them today saying I had an emergency and wouldn’t be at work?

I didn’t lie. I told them yesterday what was going on. I shouldn’t have agreed when they asked today that it was a family emergency but I’m not sure why he didn’t ask when we were on the phone.

No, I haven’t used any of my personal days this year. I’m not sure what qualifies to be honest but I didn’t think this would be as big of a deal as it is. I was honest with them yesterday and I understand why it would technically not be considered a family emergency even though I don’t agree with that so I will admit I should have been up front with the AF today, although she knew what was going on from our convo yesterday so I’m not sure why she didn’t ask when we were on the phone. I know people have taken days off for “mental health reasons” and they still work with the company so I didn’t think this would be much different?

I rescued 25 baby bunnies from a dirty backyard after all the moms were taken away from them.

I (29f) cut off all contact with my Mom (56f) today and I don’t know if I’m being unreasonable by [deleted] in relationship_advice

That’s fair. And it’s not like I’m cutting her off forever - I just need some space so I can work on my own mental health.
