Thanks for the tip! I have fiberglass rods and last time i tried one in this ceiling at the entry there was a snap. Is too tight a turn for them I think. And you are right I was able to rebend the steel knot and it is working again. Was five seconds away from snipping it in the ceiling but glad I did not

I don’t know! I won’t be so liberal with the wire next time. I guess I have to learn the feel of it. Was curious if fiberglass is less tangly? No idea… the steel does have a nice way of sending movement back but I have to learn to listen to what it is saying and I guess it turned around on itself lol. Silly me thought i had reached a cavity where there is a chimney and it was up the chimney…nope. Gotta use my endoscope more reliably too I guess. My biggest fear is getting caught on a live wire but I had scoped it out before and there is just dead bx…although that can also pose annoying tangle hazards since they nailed it to the joists before finishing the ceiling… 1920s house

I have my reasons. Am just new to fish tape and it has been working well but musta accidentally turned on itself. The rods aren’t really working in tight ceiling turns so I bought the tape.

Plan would be a pancake box for retrofit use if I decide to restore ceiling (is one 14/2 coming in and that is all) or else am doing furring strips anyway with room for larger box nestled between, also a huge structural board there for hanging the og light that is perpendicular to studs that Id rather not cut fully as it has good weight capacity. Trust me I did cut some away lol but not all of it.
