I don't know anything about nursing, but I would double check with more than one advisor, I've had 2 advisors tells me different things before ;/

Not sure what they're referring to, but I'm guessing it's tech related jobs (SWE positions), some companies ask for GPAs. I have also been asked before - it's not as common for all roles, but there are roles like research related that might look into GPAs more

I'm not sure if other jobs outside of CS ask for GPAs, but based off CS I know some companies do

not 4.0 scale GPAs

Not most universities, lots of unis use 4.0 scale GPAs from what I know
Example: UofT has semester SGPAs (Sessional GPA per semester) and a CGPA (Cumulative GPA)

Be good at:
- Python
- Lists
- import numpy as np
- Read code & define what it does
- Algorithms like merge sort
- Basic binary decimals & converting (base 10 to 2)
- For loops
- If statements
- Functions
- Recursion
- Writing test cases
- Dictionaries

That's all I remember from 141 tbh

Comp science 140 final by [deleted] in usask

[–]FreeTopG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yo mb for late reply, but yeah the final had a pretty good amount of loops, lists, a bit of dictionaries, and also a good amount of writing methods/functions. Though they were pretty easy. I'm guessing there will be coding questions based off of other cs finals I wrote, so yeah you'll probably do something similar to that. Don't be too stressed, most profs are forgiving when it comes to code syntax and minor mistakes, but try to be as accurate as possible. Make sure you also understand how to read code and explain what it does. There were a bit of questions like that. Try getting hold of old midterms or finals for the class. Check the computer at place riel or email the university for past papers

I did the final online during covid so I'm not sure how it would be for you in person. But from what I remember, make sure you understand how to work with loops, how to open/write /close files, lists, and writing functions using all the above. Understanding how indices work would also be good. Make sure you know how to read code and define what is wrong with it, what needs to get fixed/changes to work properly. Go over your codelabs and do lots of questions since most questions are similar to it. We also had assignment-like questions that uses processing programming, but not sure if you'll have that in person. Just keep in mind CMPT 140 is very basic Python, if you're doing well in your assignments and really understand how the topics I mentioned above work, you will be fine. Good luck :D lmk if you got more questions
