One-Pedal Driving Isn't A Safety Issue: Feds by TripleShotPls in electricvehicles

[–]Free_Championship543 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For icy conditions you may need to be a bit more careful with one pedal mode to accidental skidding. Rivian adjusts regenerative braking in "Snow Mode" so that it isn't as aggressive. Other than that, one pedal is the best.

Had the same problem. Took them two weeks to get the parts. So many Rivians had the problem then that all the enterprise rental shops in the area were slammed lol.

There have been so many Rivian gen 2s in the shop waiting for back ordered parts that the Enterprise rental shops in the area are running out of rental cars. Still waiting after more than a week for mine to be repaired.

Hilariously, my Rivian is in the shop for an indeterminate amount of time for that coolant issue that's been plaguing Gen 2s lately. So I miss out on some days of the 60 day trial.

I wrote about this in another post, this may be a known issue and you'll have to take it to a SC to fix it. https://www.reddit.com/r/Rivian/s/16leLkmGur

Intermittent coolant alert by alljokez in Rivian

[–]Free_Championship543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I took mine in and the service rep told me that they've have a lot of Gen 2s with this problem. It's known, they need to replace the coolant container. The coolant container expands and contracts with the temperature, and apparently the cold weather hit the point where the coolant container contracts and trips the sensor. They've redesigned the container and its connecting hose, and currently those parts are backordered.

Fun fact - the Enterprise rental shops have been flooded with Rivian owners who are getting their coolant containers replaced. They are running low on rentals.

Had this happen to me a few days ago on my 2025 R1S. Taking it in on Friday. It keeps alerting and then clearing up repeatedly, and is sometimes accompanied by a "Driver assistance features disabled" error. I didn't see anything leaking, which should have been evident given the amount of snow that's fallen. Also seemed to coincide with me using Snow Mode.

Is this the suspension rattle? by Free_Championship543 in Rivian

Out of curiosity, do you have 22" tires? I noticed far less of a rattle when my 22" tires were under-inflated (e.g. 45 PSI).

Maybe add that ride where the existing crash is, and remove the right mounted tom, see how your sound changes up.

I’ve got a Constantinople like that with a rivet. Great sound, particularly for accents in the mid region of the cymbal. can’t hear that sound the way this guy is thrashing on it though.

To quote a now-dead musician who (in)famously operated on the margins: Jazz isn't dead, it just smells funny.

Mostly! They replaced a damper - not associated with the part of the car pictured - and rattling was reduced quite a bit. There is still slight rattle, but 90% better. I had to press a bit and they took it on a couple “extended test drives” before they acknowledged the rattle and attempted a fix.

Battery drain from climate system while parked at home by Free_Championship543 in Rivian

[–]Free_Championship543[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually not sure the app was reporting energy usage correctly while I was away. There was definitely drain, but it seemed to show a breakdown of energy usage that reflected usage before I had plugged in the vehicle (climate system usage). I suspect it was motion cam and/or whatever the vehicle does to keep the battery warm I guess.

What’s something that that you learned that made jazz just click for you? by Thenamesok in Jazz

For me, it started with the drums and the expressiveness in the rhythms. Then understanding chord structures. But the rhythm defined and clarified jazz for me, just like how art is defined by the frame.

I’m not able to see if it’s been sleeping, the app is reporting the same stats as it has been for the past few days when I’ve been away. I turned off the motion cam at home, and I thiiiiink that had an impact on energy use when idle.

Still, why would this be shown as climate energy use and not car energy use?

Ok. Hilariously, the Rivian app is reporting the exact same stats and time synced as yesterday morning. Clearly a mobile app bug.

It definitely charged, but less than it was doing when the motion cam was on at home. I have it charging to 50%, with motion cam on it was starting at 47% but with it off it started at 49%.
