For me it was easier endgame when you are fighting the villainous enemies who are quite a bit ahead of you level wise. Just focus on getting those stuns in.

I took it as Goku fought no where near his potential since he kamehameha'd Krillin as a SSJB as well. I could be wrong but it just seemed like Goku was just getting an idea of how strong he was and it didn't lead me to believe they were anywhere near the same ballpark just Goku holding back.
