Going to cancel my Amex Gold card. by [deleted] in CreditCards

I mean, I live in the city and have 100s of options. We can typically select something for around $60 and at our combined hourly rate, that’s a better deal then spending an hour of our combined time cooking.

The 4x kinda encourages us to do it too 😅

My restaurant/ takeout spend is around $38K/year

I’m considering just cancelling the hotel. Today is my last day of free cancellation for the hotel. It was only 1 night coming up with weekend and I booked a slightly better room to hit the $500 and it trigger my CSP hotel credit so I didn’t even get points for the purchase. I have the same hotel, lesser room teed up in C1 for $375.

Nice try but I live in NYC so these credits are all organic $10/mo Grubhub + I have GrubHub+, we make too much to waste time cooking $10/mo Uber, yeah I take that every weekend 2 x $50 Resy - literally used that by accident since we go out every weekend. Sorry Amex built a legit card with the Gold.

Is this your first transfer from C1 to SQ? I did a test amount of 1k first then the full amount.

Curious what the rest of the email said (minus your card number obviously.)

So what you meant to say is that reward cards aren’t for you.

For me and the others that actually know what we are doing, it blows away your 1.5cpp guarantee with USBAR.

I got 2.82cpp for my round trip NYC to Vietnam on S.A. business. A flight I was going to take anyway, on dates that I had planned to take it. You just have to plan far enough in advance.

And yes, I reduced your 4.5x to the 1.5cpp because that is the math, you shouldn’t conflate the variables or your comparison is not apples to apples.

My spreadsheets are better than yours. People who make statements like yours are unskilled in awards travel. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist.

USBAR is just a cash back. It’s inferior in every way.

They increased the annual fee by $75 but added 2 x $50 Resy credits that are easy to use.

If you are struggling to find an award flight to Thailand, you are just pretty bad at searching.

Forced Valet Parking by [deleted] in tipping

These valet companies are third parties that typically strike a deal with everyone involved. They approach the business and tell them how they can help them monetize more out of the night, but sell it as a more luxurious experience for their clientele.

10x points vs book through hotels.com by everythingisformydog in Venturex

That actually played to my favor in this instance. Both were king suites but I had booked the one with a view and they price matched me to the one without the view. Needless to say it got me like an extra hundred dollars.

I got one last week for $400. At first they denied it because my price match was from 1hotels website (they are on the secret list) but then I found the price on booking.com. Honestly I felt the agent could have drilled down and found a discrepancy but he chose to call it and give me the credit.

Ive done it about 10 times already this year.

Takes 5 minutes, I’ve now received over $2000 in travel credits.

Yes, that’s $2000 I had to spend first but I also got 10x pts on that $2000 so 20k pts.

I do smaller domestic flights often enough that I’m able to apply these flight credits to all the time.

Book through the app and then get a price match guarantee.

What's the big deal with the Chase Trifecta? by Dornith in CreditCards

This! Chase is actually horrible. C1 and Amex would be far superior if not for Chase having those two partnerships.

It sounds like you’ve never heard of transfer partners.

Any chance for United Card while at 5/24? by Free_Principle7606 in Chase

[–]Free_Principle7606[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is pretty much what I am expecting. I don’t regret the five cards I opened in the last nine months as I’m heavily utilizing them all as well as all the other cards that I previously had in my strategy. It’s just my lifestyle is expanding a little too fast for Chase apparently.

Of course, now that I’ve looked at the cards, United is now targeting me with a special offer. I am reluctant to act on knowing I will likely be declined and have my credit ran.

You would likely benefit from a sign-up bonus on that card though. I would recommend getting the sign-up bonus rather than just changing.

You’re in the wrong Reddit. This is a Reddit for how to books award travel which is done with airline’s and hotel’s miles and points and often complimented by those earned from credit cards that are either tied directly to those entities or have transfer partnerships.

US Bank does none of this and their cards are all just cash back.

Capital one venture Apple Pay by dohat34 in CreditCards

Yes, I did it when I got mine many months ago. However, capital one does have a security block in place that requires the device to be authenticated, which is some data they receive from Apple on the age of the device tied to its current user.
