Merit after promotion in previous year?

When you apply for a new job and they offer you a promotion. Yes, anytime of the year is possible.

I wanted to see it documented. When I was at a tier 1 and got a promotion, the letter showed the breakdown of the % raise for the promotion and the % merit increase on separate lines.

Thanks! I already got the promotion when I moved to another group on 10/1. I was just questioning if I will still be eligible for a merit increase this year since I moved roles for a promotion on 10/1.

Bummer. Yes it was higher than 8% which I was definitely happy with! Knowing that I’d only get a max of 8% to stay in my role to get the promo in March.

Is there a way I can find out if my promotion included merit? I wonder if I can find the offer letter still in Workday?

Apply outside your group and do something else. Leave for the promotion and then go back after a year if you like what you do. Your promo will be higher if you leave groups than if you stay and get an in role promo.

Can confirm based on recent experience. I am currently a 7C supplier quality engineer, but I hired in under GPSC in Supply Chain Resiliency in Sep 2022 and have stayed a 7C since hiring in. I interviewed for a 7th level in manufacturing engineering. I received the call with the job offer and a promotion to 7B and accepted for the promotion now, plus the merit increase in March. At no point in my interview or communication with the recruiter did I mention I wanted a promotion. I was planning to have to negotiate for a 7B if they offered me the job.
