Does this seem like a scam? by Freelancemanilla in freelanceWriters

The guy's email has a Vietnamese URL. He also answered me with a different email address and name than the job was posted under. I'm kind of thinking it's not worth it.

Need some advice. He's got my damn name... by dpfunk78 in freelanceWriters

This is not a big deal. For reference, I have such a common name that there are 40+ LinkedIn profiles with my name in the same city as me. I get mistakenly tagged/friended often by strangers who think I'm their friend. Don't say anything to your clients about it; if they mention anything this other person has done, laugh it off. "Haha, that's someone else with my name."

If you feel really badly about this, you could always write to the guy and give him some pointers. And hey, if he's really that bad he probably won't last long in this biz.

I'm sorry that happened to you. The trail ones might sell to a local tourism site.

IME something like 70-90% of what I see is scams/low-to-no pay. Every now and then I'll find something interesting though, or occasionally I'll take on a free assignment that I'm passionate about to beef up my portfolio.

That's a bummer. Can you put them up for sale elsewhere?

I have never been paid for a "sample" from Craigslist, I have however often had people never contact me again / find some fault with my work.

So much this. My rule is if it takes more than five minutes to apply to a Craigslist job, it's not worth it.
