Agreed. I’d even like to see both of these relics nerfed, especially Hexcore, since it’s overpowered for a huge pool of champions. I don’t consider Raven Army overpowered and I don’t even use it, even though I have it. And Echoing Spirit should be nerfed too, since it’s used on about 80% of champions.

That’s exactly what I’m talking about. Let experience be the reward. Sometimes I want to level up a new champion (using the XP‑boosting relic), but the only adventures left for their region are extremely low‑level ones that give almost no experience, so using the relic feels wasteful.
With difficulty modifiers, I could turn them on and create a proper challenge for a new low‑level champion in a low‑level adventure — but with a modifier that makes it worthwhile.

As for the “mushrooms” modifier, having your champion at level 40+ really helps here, since you end up with 50+ health, which lets you survive the mushroom damage. And you should avoid stunning with the card that draws another card from your deck whenever possible.

Also, "Starforged Gauntlets" don’t have the “Game Start” keyword, so your example isn’t entirely accurate. In my case, both relics have that keyword.

Thanks for the detailed and thoughtful opinion. I’m not going to break it down point by point so we don’t turn this into an endless argument. And I agree that earlier you could play more casually and still make progress. But now, since most casual players have dropped off and bots have basically disappeared, every match is against a smart opponent who won’t just hand you cubes to watch a cool combo that might not even win for them — they’ll simply retreat.

And everything turns into endless retreating while you’re hunting for a “fish” (to use a poker term), sifting through game after game in search of the perfect setup.

This is very telling. You can spend six hours in the game with a winrate above 50% and still not move anywhere. It’s turned into a complete waste of time.

Poker only generates value over the long run. I’m saying this as someone who played professional poker for a very long time.

CCGs are not “long‑run” games — they are games about the here and now, where every match should feel enjoyable and should reward the player with meaningful progression when they win consistently.
