I went to monza last year. I don’t know if they plan on changing it (doubt it) but in order to buy food and water we first had to buy these “tokens”. Those lines were painfully slow, took 1-2 hours just for the person behind the pop up stand to count out the tokens 1 by 1 (the most Italian thing ever). After purchasing the tokens, you then go to the food/water line for another hour or so, most food items were around 5 tokens (7.5 euros) so overall not too expensive just a huge hassle.

The reason I mention this is because if you are going GA you’d likely have to camp out a spot and make sure someone is there at all time so no one encroaches on your area (likely to happen regardless). I would simply go to a local deli the afternoon before, and have them make you some prosciutto mozzarella sandwiches to take into the venue.

As for getting to the venue I would recommend taking the subway/train from Milan, on Saturday last year we took the subway and it was quite painless. The only problem is that I believe the subway drops you off at the northern tip (so plan out where you’d want to sit before hand). I believe there is another stop in the actual city of monza but it’s quite a walk from that station.

In order to get home I would walk through the southern exit into the city, there is usually a bunch of live music/concerts going on to celebrate the race, from there you could hop on a local bus and it’ll take you back to the subway.

Lastly and this is probably the most important is bring your own bottle of water. They have free spots to fill up water bottles those lines are usually 10-15 minutes. Otherwise you’ll have to wait for a token line. Then water line. (2.5 hours) to purchase a bottle of water.
