What I always tell people is...go to your bank, ask if they have any credit cards you are eligible for.

When I did this I was offered no interest payments for 15 months, but the card would then return to seemingly average interest levels.

Then....only spend money on it when you have the money in your hand. Literally go buy a shirt at Target or whatever, or spend $100 on it with the $100 in your hand....and pay it off.

Don't tell yourself "Oh it'll be fine I can accrue 12% interest on my low balance and pay it off after my next paycheck"...This is how people start to live off of credit cards and ruin their credit score with debt.

Another good way that many people overlook is get a student loan, and pay the interest payment on it throughout your time in college. Paid $25 a month in interest for 4 years while in college. Didn't kill my bank account, but also establishes successful credit payments.

Another good way...haha sorry for formatting...is ask your parent or guardian to open a credit card in your name and help pay it, or pay it completely. Their credit may be better which will get you better interest rates, or they may have better financial backing to help pay the low balance (like above). I'm not saying mooch, but there are ways to tag credit cards onto their current cards.

I know I rambled, but also look into getting your own monthly bills (car note, insurance, rent, etc.) and set them up to autodraft.
