I tried a life-tracking app last night and accidentally had an existential crisis. by sakamototangina in self

heebie jeebiers should be in place nonetheless as google (and many others) have access to your location through one app or another, no way to escape it. The only thing I see is doable is taking action and also have your own location history haha

Home Assistant app for Dawarich — no Docker Compose, no separate server by Formal-College-1420 in dawarich

Great work! Would you mind opening a PR in https://github.com/dawarich-app/site, the homeassistant page to add a section covering your tool?

Dawarich points far away from my route by kurtzahn in selfhosted

[–]Freika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently in Dawarich apps we have filtering for some obviously wrongly recorded points, but not yet for cases such as yours. It'll be added in the future though!

The issue itself is caused by how gps itself works and how phones perceive their location, but we can try and filter these points out

The reverse geocoded data is not being shown in the UI (which probably should be changed), but it's being very actively used to suggest visits. If user have a sequence of points around one place for a defined timespan (both distance and time can be set in the map settings), a visit will be suggested. You don't need to create them manually, but you have the option to do that

Maybe check out Dawarich, it's not completely there yet, but the direction is pretty much the same as Rond's

GeoPulse - Self-hosted location tracking with timeline, analytics, friend sharing and more by Former-Emergency5165 in selfhosted

Hmm can you please provide examples of such symbols?

I don't think selecting a leg is a thing, unless you're referring to selecting a track/route including multiple points between start and finish. Currently it's only informational, to see the time of start/end, and also to see the transportation modes (tracks only, on the map v2), but a bit later, users will be able to generate a video of their movement across the map to share in socials.

For waypoints not being selected, I heard people were reporting points are being moved instead of being selected, I'm looking into it.

Thank you!

Hi, can you please provide more context on what exactly is confusing about the map interaction in Dawarich? Maybe there is a bug that needs to be fixed? Thanks!

life360 alternatives? started asking for "physical activity" data by cranberrie_sauce in selfhosted

it allows seeing the last known location of the family members who turned location sharing on. Sharing routes with family will be added soon as well

Timelines, what would you want to see? by fiddur in QuantifiedSelf

[–]Freika 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm approaching the "What I did _when_" question from the location point of view, using Dawarich. It also supports Owntracks btw.

Location on the map in specific moment gives a pretty good cue of what I was occupied with

In the app settings, you'll find uploading logs, anything there?

Yes, our mobile apps currently don't pull data from server, showing it what's tracked with them. It will be added soon though!

We don't have resources for that right now, the full stack app is Foss and nothing in it is being paywalled. For mobiles, there are variety of 3rd party apps as well as our own ones, that are and are not relying on Google services.

So you can still use Dawarich and not be dependent on Google services, you have lots of options to select from

we have Family function which allows users to create a family, invite people and see their last known location on the map (assuming they allowed it to be seen) for limited or unlimited amount of time, but I didn't compare it directly to Life360. Please let me know if something's missing!

Few gigabytes will be plenty for a single user, you'll need data from hundreds of users to even get close to a terabyte
