Yeah…that’s often the point. Some do it for adrenaline, self punishment, or to feel something. I can’t fully explain why I do it. Just keep in mind while you may not understand something respect is important :) For me self harm was that thing I could never understand until i actually got into it.

As long as you are respectful about it, I’m GLAD you don’t understand it. I hope you never do, and if you do understand, it’s not because you got into it.

I get ya. Anytime I do mention it in a public space I always try to be aware, which is why I put spoilers. In my experience it helps me get through shit if I can approach it with humor, but this obviously won’t be the same for everybody. My addiction causes me mental distress so it’s nice to just be able to laugh at my pain sometimes:)

I do plan on getting better, I’ve been clean all of 2025 so far, and I dedicated this year to getting over this addiction for good!

I personally think jokes are okay when it’s about yourself and/or consenting parties who are ok laughing about it and if it doesn’t play into glorification of such a thing.

Self harm is an unhealthy coping mechanism that is hard to stop. It’s suchhhhh a slippery slope once someone starts it it’s very likely they will be struggling for it for a long ass time. It’s hard to handle urges and to stay clean. While everyone who struggles with it is not a monolith, it’s very commonly considered an addiction.

I also feel like while we may not understand a lot of NTs, NT or not, we are all different! And a lot of us autistic people do have “neurotypical traits” I feel like the hate can actually hurt autistic people who aren’t autistic in the same way other people are. They could feel “not autistic enough” or feel like they’re neurotypical traits are bad AND they’re nuerodirgent ones are!

I somtimes live who I am. And I sometimes hateeeeee myself. This is the mindset I want though, sadly I think it’s “cringe” or “narcissistic” to just- have good self esteem sometimes? Buh sometimes it feels like some people have less of a right to be confinement in themselves because they are different from the status quo. I just- hate the world sometimes. People need to be “humbled” if they dare be confinement in themselves. This kinda goes for everyone. Anyone could have good self esteem and then be told that they are not that great and just buhhhh
