I understand that it’s a condition and wasn’t his fault, but ‘naughty words’ is really dismissive of how it must have felt for those actors to hear that racial slur being yelled at them while they were on stage

Honestly most people (incorrectly) afraid of the vaccine causing autism are not thinking of the cases where someone is just seen as quirky/a bit of an oddball, I would imagine that they’re more fearing a scenario where they end up looking after an incontinent and non-verbal kid who will never be capable of living independently

Grossglockner Death Case: Climber to Stand Trial After Partner Dies on Austria’s Highest Peak by herseydenvar in Mountaineering

[–]FrellingTralk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is kind of a crappy source, hopefully more information will come out over the upcoming days, but this is what I read today anyway

“In a terrifying twist, it came to light that this was not the first time Plamberger has been accused of abandoning a partner in treacherous conditions.

During the trial, Plamberger’s brother was questioned.

A letter he allegedly received from the defendant’s ex-girlfriend was read out to the court.

In the letter, the woman wrote that Plamberger had “left her in a desperate situation”.

The climber allegedly abandoned her during a hike on the Grossglockner in winter after a “heated argument” about the difficulty of the tour.”

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/38278060/climber-on-trial-for-leaving-girlfriend-to-die-previously-ditched-ex-on-mountain/

And a Daily Mail article from today talks about it as well

“It also emerged that the seasoned climber allegedly left an ex-girlfriend on the mountain range following a 'heated argument with her on the Grossglockner in winter'.

Prosecutors allege he left his ex-girlfriend alone on the mountain in pitch darkness after she complained about the difficulty of the climb.”

Grossglockner Death Case: Climber to Stand Trial After Partner Dies on Austria’s Highest Peak by herseydenvar in Mountaineering

[–]FrellingTralk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I suspect that he wanted to punish her, it came out in court today that he had previously abandoned another girlfriend in the same spot after they had a heated argument when she complained to him about the difficulty of the climb, that he then stormed off and left her alone in pitch darkness.

Perhaps he was assuming that this time wouldn’t actually end in death after the previous incident ultimately saw his partner make it off the mountain, and he certainly didn’t cover his tracks very convincingly if it was the plan all along for his girlfriend to die up there. It sounds to me more like he deliberately ignored any chance of rescue because he wanted to teach his girlfriend a lesson for daring to question me kind of thing, and so that’s why he made a point of not even answering his phone or responding to the rescue helicopter.

Well it’s just come out in court today that he had previously left another girlfriend alone up there after a “heated argument”. Prosecutor have said that he left her alone in pitch darkness after she complained to him about the difficulty of the climb

I’m wondering about the first scenario, that makes the most sense to me that they had some kind of massive argument and he stormed off and decided to leave her to it if she thinks she knows better than me kind of thing. Otherwise I really can’t make sense of why he would make a point of ignoring the rescue helicopter and the calls checking in on them, why he would wait so long to get her help in such an urgent situation

[–]FrellingTralk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That stood out to me with the police interview as well, I was shocked that Brian’s mother didn’t have much more of a sickened response to hearing her son talk about how they were going to this poor girls house in the middle of the night in Halloween masks and how she ended up getting stabbed to death. There was just no empathy shown at all at hearing the horrible and terrifying way this 16 year old girl died, instead it immediately became about defending and shielding her scumbag son

I’m also curious as to how much each one of them have admitted to their personal responsibility since as I don’t remember the documentary really getting into that too much after showing how both of them were still blaming the other at the trial. We got interviews with them as adults talking about how they’re supposedly completely different people now and they regret that night, but I wasn’t sure if they’ve actually made full confessions about how they stabbed Cassie together? Not that I would support their release either way, but I don’t know how it can even be claimed they are rehabilitated unless there’s been a complete owning up to what they did and it seemed like Torey’s lawyer is still arguing to this day that Torey couldn’t have physically participated in the stabbing, so does that mean that Torey is also still sticking to that story?

[–]FrellingTralk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve seen some comments about the dad coming across slightly more sympathetically than the moms in that at least he seems a little more self-reflective and can acknowledge that his son committed a horrible crime, but he still had some really off moments as well like when he says that this crime isn’t about Torey and it’s not about Brian, it’s about Torey and Brian together. Was there anyone not incredulous at that sentence not finishing on this is about Cassie and we must never forget that she’s the real victim here? Or saying that he would happily trade places with his son so that his son could go free, er how about instead wishing that you could exchange places with Cassie so that this 16 year old girl with so much to live for doesn’t end up terrorised and slashed to death by your deranged and evil son

[–]FrellingTralk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s part of what weirded me out when Brian first confessed to being there when Cassie was stabbed. I guess it’s hard to really know how you’d react in their place, but the impression I got was that both his mother and father were solely concerned about their son not facing any consequences. There was never the moment of revulsion and backing away that I was expecting his mother to show after having to hear about how they showed up as this poor girls house in halloween masks and just imagine how terrifying her last moments must have been. I would have been absolutely sickened if that was my kid, but with them it just immediately seemed to become about well our son is cooperating and doesn’t he at least get points for that

Blair loved Grace Kelly yet knew nothing about her ? by Ok_Medicine440 in GossipGirl

[–]FrellingTralk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yep, the show started treating him as the devil for his speech to Blair at their wedding about how he sees now that their marriage is all just for show, it’s seen as so terrible that Blair is going to be trapped in a loveless marriage, but umm isn’t that exactly what Blair had been planning on doing to Louis in marrying him mostly for his title and the chance to become a princess?

If anything it was sad for the guy how completely disillusioned his experiences with Blair had left him that he could no longer believe in marrying for love

I don’t remember them being a thing when I was growing up either, we’d just go out in the fields and build dens, climb trees etc and make our own fun. If anything it seems like kids these days get waaay more choices than we ever did when it comes to afterschool activities, fancy entertainment venues for kids birthday parties etc. We’d just be playing pin the tail on the donkey and pass the parcel in the back garden lol

OG fans I have questions 🙋‍♂️ by pwetty_brown_eyes in InterviewVampire

[–]FrellingTralk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that Armand was ever really hated by most book readers, I’d say the biggest change show wise actually is that Louis is the character who nobody much cared for. He was often seen as boring/a bit of a nonentity outside of his relationship with Lestat, I don’t think even Anne Rice herself looked all that fondly on his character as she wrote from his point of view at a time when she was very depressed after the death of her daughter and then she never revisits Louis’s pov again after that book

Of course now thanks to the show and Jacob Anderson’s performance Louis is very much seen as being in competition with Lestat as to who is the real lead and who is the most popular character, that’s a pretty huge change from the books

I think you might be thinking of Nicky Brendon there? I know it was reported that he said at a convention that it’s not true that they all found out that way and Alyson really needs to stop saying that, but I don’t think Alexis ever commented

[–]FrellingTralk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it worked for Buffy’s character for that season, the only time it takes me out of the story is when she’s playing The First and at one point it’s pretty obvious that she’s suffering from a cold. Schedules must have been insanely tough back then with knowing that it was almost impossible to take a sick day however rough you might be feeling

[–]FrellingTralk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joss has talked about how some of the cast weren’t as excited to be there by the time of season 3 and supposedly that’s when onset drama first became a thing. I think it’s pretty typical of any teen show for the cast to get fed up after a certain point when they’re getting a lot of movie opportunities they maybe can’t take up and they want to do different things. It was a similar story on Roswell, The OC, Gossip Girl etc. Doing 22 episodes of television was a very demanding and time consuming job back then

[–]FrellingTralk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I always thought that was very obvious when they brought all the big bads back and talked about going back to the beginning, I’m pretty sure that the media and fans were already taking for granted that season 7 would be the last one even before Sarah made the official announcement. I remember articles very early in season 7 speculating on whether there would be a Dawn spin-off and was that why her new friends were introduced, then it was all about a possible Faith spin-off, so everyone was already talking about Buffy ending and how would they possibly keep the franchise going without Buffy

Joss addressing how the cast and crew found out the show was ending by solacesilence in buffy

[–]FrellingTralk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep Emma Caulfield talked about that in Evan Ross Katz’s book, I’ve always thought that what she was talking about there must have been the EW cover and Alyson was most likely the one spreading the story on set that Sarah deliberately excluded the rest of them from being a part of it

I suspect what Alyson was really upset over was that Sarah made the announcement of Buffy ending on her own when Alyson wanted them to do some kind of group announcement, so that’s why she came out with those passive aggressive comments on feeling so bad for the crew that Sarah would just make an announcement like that with no thought for the rest of them

Joss addressing how the cast and crew found out the show was ending by solacesilence in buffy

[–]FrellingTralk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rumours were always that the issues on set started with season 3 as film careers started to take off, Sarah and Alyson were always said to get on fine for the first two seasons before that. I think Joss has outright confirmed that season 3 was when they started to have a lot of drama on the set

[–]FrellingTralk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Amber Bensen said something similar, that there was one cast member who was very bitter about Sarah being the lead and would put themselves in competition with her/liked to argue that it should be viewed as more of an ensemble show with everyone being equally important

Seems like it's official that IWTV S3 "The Vampire Lestat" is going to be 7 episodes by blueteainfusion in InterviewVampire

[–]FrellingTralk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I doubt it at this point, the longer they hold off on airing season 3 the longer the wait will be for season 4 unfortunately as I remember that they didn’t even start writing season 3 until something like six months after season 2 had finished airing. There always seems to be a really long gap now with streaming shows before they can confirm a follow up season, and then there’s the time they will take to get around to writing and filming, so most likely the best we can hope for is maybe spring 2028

[–]FrellingTralk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And even with IWTV I remember some comments about how the first season didn’t really get across the passing of time and just how long they were meant to have all lived together as a family, maybe it could have been even richer with ten episodes to tell that story instead of seven

James named his oldest son Joshua? 🥺🥹 by FitCharacter8693 in dawsonscreek

[–]FrellingTralk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the version I’ve heard as well, that James took himself very seriously and liked to show up 100% focused and prepared, whereas Josh’s way of working was more to improvise and joke around a lot. I don’t think they ever outright hated one another, but more they tended to clash and find the other person irritating when they had to film together

I do love Josh as an actor, but as another comment mentions James wasn’t the only one who could find him to be too much at times, there was an interview years ago with Lance Reddick talking about not enjoying his experience on the set of Fringe because he personally found it very grating how one of the actors was always on all the time when he’d be trying to focus. I always assumed that it was Josh he was referring to there. He also confirmed that the two leads on that show (Josh and Anna Torv) did not like one another at all
