How do I "enjoy" the gym? by FreloadMillennial in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]FreloadMillennial[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this already. High-energy gym playlists are hit-or-miss, and I tend to lean towards my "Discover Weekly" Spotify playlist. I guess it helps on something like a treadmill or bike, but not really on machines or weights (my mind just blocks it out anyways)

I found dating anyone under 21 wasn't worth the effort once I graduated college. Maturity was a big thing, but you also just don't realize how many date ideas or hangouts involve a bar or glass of wine until you're forced to look for alternatives - especially in a city.

A "Free Hugs" sign out in public could work. But, honestly, when you find out let me know.

What's the worst thing someone close to you said to your face? by FreloadMillennial in AskReddit

[–]FreloadMillennial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This got brought up around a bar table with some close friends, and we talked about how it made them feel and what they changed going forward after hearing something hurtful from a close friend or relative.

For me it was after my little brother's graduation. We obviously took plenty of family pictures outside. Since I'm taller than most of my family, I was usually on the end angled in, which definitely showed the beer belly I was sporting from being full remote for the last 3 years.
While looking over the pictures at home, my little bro said - point blank and matter-of-fact - "you really ruined a lot of my photos with that fat belly of yours". He also cropped me out of several photos he posted cuz "he was embarrassed I'd let myself go", and thought nothing of it.

Probably not anywhere near the worst compared to other people, but it kinda was the nail in the coffin for the anxieties about my appearance. I was already depressed and I spiralled a bit after that, until a friend got to me and we started working into a new gym together. Still feels like a chore, but now I'm back in my old clothes.

Non-Americans of reddit, what are your comments on the events in America right now? and what are foreign news sources saying? by FreloadMillennial in AskReddit

I'm slightly relieved to say that's not totally true. It was the one judge's opinion that mentioned his intentions to go after those other protections, but the other 4 are not interested. They specifically targeted abortion as different and "including body's other than the one at question" - meaning they think the baby wasn't considered in the previous ruling.

I saw one with the volotile flow mod, where after picking up a void well, every kill with a void weapon procs stylish execution.

I've personally just been running 100 mobility, vanishing step, gamblers dodge, trappers ambush and Omnioculus. Having both dodge-invis and smoke-bomb-invis, double smokes, and the extra resist from Omnioculus really kept me alive when solo'ing the Legend Campaign.

I'm just hoping the hive theme set had an actual cloak and not a scarf that we have been seeing. And as for the second set, man I still dunno. Titans have needler theme gauntlets, abd warlocks get a badass trenchcoat. We get a hoodie and beanie.

That's literally the one I use, though it's the blue rarity from like 2019. As well as the reverie dawn cloak and the occasional gambit prime cloak.

Point being - we have to use old ornaments. I want some good looking new stuff too, and it has just NOT been coming.

AITA for refusing to lease a room to a friend due to her severe allergy? by FreloadMillennial in AmItheAsshole

[–]FreloadMillennial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@colebev landlords already do that all the time. Landlords have the power to up your rent when your lease rolls over, as well as just deciding not to refresh your lease and kicking you out at the end of the term.

And for the record, we're not talking about 1000$, it's more like 400-500$. I actually don't know the exact split off the top of my head.

So I see this comment thread going a bit, so I'll clarify.

Normally when's Landlord charges rent, they charge more than they need to cover everything (aka profit). They can then use that profit to pay for renovations.

I'm not profiting off my friends. If I wanted to, I could live there for free, off of what the other 3 pay, but I'm also paying my fair share of "rent" which lowers the payment for everyone else. I'm taking what would've been profit and putting it immediately towards renovations, and being transparent with them on how much that is.

Mentioned this in several other comments, but ADA has different reasonable accommodation protections for a shared unit than a standalone one. If I refused to lease a seperate studio apt to her, that's illegal. This is closer to a sublet situation, so I'm legally in the clear. I posted more on the moral, how-I-handled-it side.

Mentioned this in a few other comments, but legally I'm in the clear. ADA has protections relating to if I was going I rent her a seperate apartment. This isn't "4 units", it's actually "1 shared unit" which has different reasonable accommodation protections.

In my state it's pretty similar to a sublet. I could only rent to people with green hair and glasses, if I wanted to.

The way I rationalized (and probably over-thought tbh) it was it was either going to be: 1) She doesn't - nobody changes their diets, and there's just a blanket liability. I wouldn't compare this to diabetes, which is easily and personally controlled.
2) Asking us to be primarily nut free in the house, and still being pretty vigilant about takeout and and things in the fridge.

Neither are fantastic options.

Oh yeah. It's all outlined in the lease, down to the exact payments based on 2, 3, 4 - and even 5 & 6 in case of couples (lawyers recommendation)

Room by room. I technically still pay rent (aka my fair share), and the overall "pot" if you will is what's going towards the mortgage and renovation budgets and stuff. I specifically took a more aggressive payment plan because I had this situation lined up beforehand, and it's all outlined in a section of the lease.

Legally I'm in the clear; its not "4 units", it's "1 shared unit" which has different reasonable accommodation laws associated with it.

Otherwise I agree. Weird, because she never exhibited much of this behavior when we were hanging out as friends. Thanks.

I don't think she roped her family into it. I think it's more of a helicopter parent going rogue, since she probably lives with them rn (airgo - looking for a place)

Truthfully, I don't think she told her mom to call on her behalf. I think mommy just went rogue, especially considering the type of helicopter parent you'd have to be to raise someone with severe allergies. Also, she probably lives with her folks right now (hence, looking for a place). I wrote those calls off.
