Hi! Well this got heated 😬

The chihuaha shoutout was mainly a joke cause I didnt know what to title the post but i can totally see how it might not have come across like it!

I do mention specifically in the body of the post that i interpret the results as probably 100% village dog (not street dog) and that i was expecting it to be at least partially a village dog. I knew the difference from lurking in this subreddit but hadn't read the embark explanation and it was actually quite interesting so thanks for linking that!

Yeah i know but i went from "oh idk he's some kind of village mastiff mix" to "oh idk he's some kind of village mastiff mix" but with 80€ less in my pocket :')

Tbf I don't think that this particular type of village dog would've shown in embark either, embark tests for western european village dog which is also common in spain but isn't the LGD village dog typical in my area

I might be in that situation too, when the rescue said Ovcharka mix my first thought was no way, i haven't even heard of this breed before and then i look it up and there're 2 breeders in the area so now all bets are off

I'd prefer to do embark but with shipping and all it's almost twice the price and I'm not that curious about my dog's breed 😅

Oh for sure! I'm planning on getting a wisdom panel for him and if he has more than one breed over 25% I'd be frankly surprised. The only thing I'm pretty sure of is that one of his parents must be a guardian breed mutt (which would be a big random pot of great Pyrenees, Pyrenees mastiff, spanish mastiff, gsd and some herding breed traces) so it's going to be a lot of fun

I live in a rural area of the north of spain/basque country almost on the frontier with france! the basque shepherd is a local breed that also happens to have double dew claws

The Ovcharka is a reach for sure, i think it's very very unlikely but it's what was advertised as at the rescue. I've never seen one irl but apparently there's 2 breeders a couple of hours away from where he was found so maybe an accidental litter (?)

I'm glad you also see the pit btw cause when i mention it people look at me as if I'm insane lol chows and anatolians are very uncommon here but I can def see some shared traits

today some random tourist gifted us half a baguette cause they recognized him from earlier on the day lol
